attention computer gurus

I am a total webtard so I need your help. I recently downloaded ITunes which runs with Quicktime, since then all video clips or movies open and play with Quicktime instead of Windows Media Player....I am running Windows XP Pro.
How do I change this without uninstalling Quicktime?

quicktime is using it as your default player

open quicktime, click edit, preferences, quicktime preferences, file types. uncheck all of those that are checked

IF that DOESNT work then try this next step;

if its playing music or movies in quicktime, right click on one file of its type ( mp3, mpeg4 etc ) right click on the file, click open with, then "choose program".... then select windows media player. , then down on the bottom of the window there will be a lil box thats uncheck thats says "always use this selected program to open this kind of file" check that box!
