ill forewarn you now, DONT mod it unless you want a unreliable daily driver :rolf :rolf :rolf

an NO im not joking! but dont get me wrong GP's are great, dual climate control, heated seats..etc

Nick, I found out today that it's got a 3.4 pulley on it. The pulley was put on a few months before the previous owner got rid of it. Also, they did come in two door. They also came in the GT version (not supercharged.) The rarest ones are GTP coupes with the moonroof, just under 1000 made, if I remember correctly.

Nice to know Brian, thanks for the heads up bro. As for modding this car, I will not be doing anything to it soon if ever. This is my DD and I really dont have money to mod it. Thats what my Trans AM is for:thumbsup

if it JUST has the 3.4 with NO other supporting mods ( intake, downpipe, plugs, 180 thermostat, tune). I would REMOVE it asap an put the stock pulley on to save the car/motor from KR. 3800 are notorious for knock. I will give you my 3.8 pulley and help you swap it if you like!!!

I would run a scan master on it before you change anything...

i agree with the above. if it's good, no sense in changing it.

you seem to forget its 20-30 degrees now, wait till its 80-100 degrees outside then youll be singing a different tune!!! :punch:

3.4 should be fine with just CAI

3.4 should be fine with just CAI

key word is "Should". every car and motor react different, you should know that if you know cars!!! Ive seen cars with 3.4, intake, plugs, thermo, downpipe, and dhp and still got 9 degrees of KR in 65 degree weather !!!! that was REAL KR since we used race gas an it reduced to 2 degrees. take that for a grain of salt, but I know wbodies and 3800's like the back of my hand after tuning, and building multiple cars!!!!

My car may have been different but I never had a problem with the 3.4, CAI, T stat.

But like you said, different cars react differant. Kind of strange considering they are all built the same. I never understood that but it's true.

Now I dont know what to do here, Ive never had a SC 3800 before and I sure as phuck dont wanna mess anything up. So, anymore suggestions? Can anyone scan it to see if eveything is good to go? It seems perfectly fine, temp and all. I honestly think it would be fine cause there is NO indication otherwise.

being new to a 3800 and going WOT you wont notice it, but watching a scanner going WOT an getting KR and hearing the motor making different noises an pull different you notice it.

PERSONALLY if you want it to be a RELIABLE daily driver, an not have to worry if you punch it to pass someone or getting on the hwy, I would goto the 3.8 pulley. BUT thats personal perference after working on these damn things for 2 years, and learning my own lessons with the motor ( 3 ) and trans ( 2 )

also, I have a powertuner (scanner) we can scan it some night after work if you like. but once again, its winter, it may show you are getting low to zero KR, but the truth only tells when its summer, then its a completely different story! since winter is like a free intercooler to the m90(SC)

I would just drive the car for now. When the weather warms up, get the car scanned and see what it's doing. Just like 1Quickgtp said.

But I would think your ok in this temp.

Wurd, thanks guys. 1quick Ill keep you in mind in the nest comming months. But I will most likley change the pulley, I wont miss anything once I do that anyway. It would be done more so a piece of mind on my part knowing that its at stock specs.:thumbsup

Thats complete bullshit, I put 30K on my car completely modded. I dont know of any issues I had. Last year I owned that car it was making 300 to the wheels and putting down mid 12's passes. Drove that car everywhere.

Sometimes its the owner that makes the car un-reliable...

i got no knock w/ a 3.4, autolite 104's, gutted stock airbox, and u-bend removal.

1-2* @ the top of 2nd w/ the u-bend still in there, $50 spent on his part and it'll be knock free, don't go jumping the gun, besides it's his DD, I doubt he'll beat the shit out of it.

I do recommend gutting the stock airbox, if anything just to hear the whine.

agree w/ jeff and steve, don't be a douche and you'll be fine. it's not your toy car, I can't forsee you hunting mustangs, dizzums, and f-bodies w/ it.

is that so dan, how many trannies did you go through? why did you sell it? my point exactly :rolf :rolf

as for jeff, your car was a beast/factory freak.. end of story, so your 2 cents dont count towards this!!! ( anyone that knows your or your car will contest towards that )

when it comes to modding GP's they turn very well I should say very, but they turn unreliable......where as any modded DD does.....

Holy shit, I am going to have to tell my x that next time I see her. Her moms is a gtp, moonroof car, in that color. Sad thing is that eigther she had to replace the engine on it already. Did all the anniversary editions come with the 2 tone leather and the stiching in the seats?
