I'm looking to replace my 5.1 MP Digital Point and Shoot with one that's a little nicer before we go to Mexico at the end of the month. My current camera has a defect inside the lens and alot of my shots end up with an "orb" in them... very fvcking annoying!!

I pretty have it narrowed down to the Sony DSC-H5 and the one it replaced, the DSC-H2. They differ in the sense that one has a 2" screen and 6.0MP and the new one has a 3" screen and 7.2MP. Just wondering if those two "upgrades" are really worth ~$100...

I'd like to stay with Sony because I have alot invested in Accessories (Memory Sticks) but if someone can guide me to a nicer Point and Shoot for $400 or less based on real world experience, I'd jump ship. My "want" list includes a decent optical zoom and a bigger screen. Anything above 5.0 MP should be enough resolution to print quality 8x10's which is likely the largest I'd print.

SLR is just a tad beyond my budget at the moment.

Link to a side-by-side of the two I am considering:

If someone can recommend another model, I'm all ears.

Thanks for any input!

I had my eye on that one.

Can get it for $230 with a 1 Gig card shipped to my door.

I would concur with Yellow Wagon. You can get the Canon SD600 for $212 if you look around. I bought one for my wife for Christmas and it is an excellent camera for the price. A few other professionals I know bought that same model as a "play" camera and they were impressed as well.

Hope so. I loved my Sony's too but this lens issue is really got me ticked. It's like a piece of foreign matter in there. I can't disassemble it down that far and Sony wants my unborn first kid in exchange for fixing it... screw that!

Point and shoot digis are rarely repaired just replaced due to the labor involved. Have fun with the Canon.

Jeremy, you may want to check out Canon's S3IS

I had been eyeing it, but I'm going dSLR next. Used it some and played around with it; one damn nice camera.
