Damn, some of you guys running luquid cooling and what not, but only 1 gig of memory? I am maxed out at 4 gigs of DDR2 5300 memory. And yes, I do notice a difference. More going from 1 to 2 gigs, but 4 is nice. :D

Also, I just picked up a SATA DL DVD burner with light scribe. Pretty bad ass but I got to find a place to get cheep blank CD's and DVD's that I can use light scribe on.

I only have 1 right now....I plan on getting more.

Are you sure your MOBO is even running all 4 gigs? Alot of times I see people get 4 gigs but their mobo's cant even run 4 so the RAM is just ran at whatever the max is for the mobo.

The toweer that Im running right now is a piece of garbage. but I was told from my dad that all it needs to be is cleaned ad it should be ready to go. Like I said I have no fuking clue how to do that but any help would be much appreciated. Also do you have any idea of cost on how much it would be to do something like that? _] Unplug all cables from back, label/color code if necessary :goof
_] Undo the 3 or 4 screws that hold the sliding side panel on.
_] Unplug case fan if one is attached to inside of sliding panel.
_] Take outside, set on flat/non-wet surface.
_] Get leaf blower out of shed/garage, go to town.

I've done that ^^^ for years and it works great with no side effects. :thumbsup

I was at Milwaukee PC on HWY 100 a few times the last few weeks looking for stuff. I am going to need your advice for a MoBo and water cooling for the exact same chip. Or just tell me what you think of yours (as I am sure you heard some feedback on it before you purchased it) And why you went with that set up. Oh, and how about a price for the MoBo and water cooling setup.

Thanks

Hey another watercooling person with a VERY nice rig!!!!!

Neal I would recomend checking out www.newegg.com for your new stuff.

Also what are you going to be looking to cool? They have water blocks for cpus, gpus, northbridge chips, harddrives, and even memory!

My rig has:
Danger Den Black Ice Extreme 2 Radiator, 2x 120mm fans
http://www.dangerdenstore.com/files/images/radiators/bi/xtreme/xtreme240_2pass_black_100.jpg
Danger Den D4 Pump
http://www.dangerdenstore.com/files/images/pumps/d5/d5_front_view_100.jpg
Danger Den RBX Water block
http://www.dangerdenstore.com/files/images/blocks/rbx/a64/rbxa64_top_100.jpg
Danger Den Fillport
7/16 tubing

All of the fittings are 1/2 so its a pain to get the 7/16 on but well worth it. IMO 1/2 tubing is to big and I think 3/8 is to small. To get the 7/16 I just held the end in boiling water for a couple secs and worked it on.

Here's a great forum for water cooling:

I hear great things about Danger Den, I just have never done water cooling before. I have always wanted to try it though.

I just got my new SATA DVD burner from NewEgg.com, so yes, I use them and have never had a problem with them.

I would probably just do my CPU unless there was a good reason to cool something else. At this point, I don't know what the point would be, do do any other parts.

Thanks for the info.:thumbsup

Ah I want one of those too!! I personally don't have much need for one right now tho or the funds. Saving for a new AM2 board/processor and 8800!! w00t

So what are you looking to get out of your watercooling system? Quietness, wow effect/cool, or overclocking?

one thing, I can beat or get VERY close to beating neweggs prices, plus you dont have to pay shipping an wait :)

the e6600 is BY far the best C2d for the money, anything above is a waste of money, whereas im WAY above the x6900 ( 2.93, and im over clocked thats VERY stable ) I ran prime95 for 12 hrs with NO hiccups )

as mobo, depending on the price, I PERSONALLY would go for the d975xbx2, reason being, im intel biased AN its a frickin AWESOME motherboard. lil pricey but EXTREMELY awesome ( intel unlocked it from the factory so you can OC )
Asus would be next inline for any board, stay away from asrock, msi, gigabyte etc.

watercooling, I would go with the same kit I have ( big water se ), reason being, it has a HUGE radiator, SUPER nice leak free fittings ( thats what sold me ) and it has a 5.25 coolant resivor ) keeps the coolant cool )

neal I would personally return the SATA optical drive, reason being, MOST motherboards DONT support sata optical, and even vista isnt fully written around it, like they should have, I had a sata dvd-rom and sata dvd-rw and was VERY VERY VERY unhappy with the performance vs my 2 IDE now!!!! just a forewarning

as for cooling other stuff, I have my chipset waterblock coming from danger den. but you can cool cpu, gpu, chipset, memory at the moment, only thing worth while is CPU and GPU ( chipset and memory are worthless ) just get a nice dual channel ( 2 gig ) memory set with heatspreaders ( mushkin, corsair, ocz etc ) look for 800mhz with low latency with nice timings also

ok sorry to ramble through all that, but I had to RUSH this becuase I have to goto the doctor before work ( didnt proofread sorry, if you dont understand any of it, then sue me :p )

later guys

just remember, I can get VERY VERY VERY close to neweggs prices ;) also, no shipping. ( you have to remember they have NO overhead cost!!! )

Realy? I got the new Samsung, and so far, no problems. (crosses fingers) Maybe it's the firmware?

Here is the link to what I got.

I do agree 100% on the CPU being the best for the $ out there right now, and I have always liked the Intel boards. Seems like for the most part we think the same way.:thumbsup

Neal take it for a grain of salt, but im sticking with my IDE drives for optical, I bet you ANY money that if I were to swap out your sata for ide without you knowing, you wouldnt know a diff ;) just like swapping out 7200rpm SATA2 HD's in raid 0 VS. 2 IDE hard drives in raid with a IDE raid card. ( raptors ( 10k rpm is a completely different ballgame )

CPU, like I said I have my core 2 duo 2.4 at 3.6 now :), x6900's are running in the 4.x range, but there paying 1k plus JUST for the processor VS, the e6600 that I paid 300 for hahaha

as for motherboards, I PERSONALLY like my 975 chipset, VERY stable, VERY overclockable, if you just want a nice motherboard with nice onboard sound, stable but ARE NOT going to overclock, I would get the DG965WH motherboard, I personally have this board on my parents computer with 2gigs and the e6300, and it fairly quick.

also neal when are we going to trade my gtp for your jeep ( I talk to you at HANDC )

Dude that was you? Damn I was on the Wisconsin board looking for you. :rolf

I am sure we can get together and talk some night. Or E mail some details on what you want to do.

Also, I agree, that I will not see a huge difference in SATA over IDE optical drives, but for $39 shipped to my house, and I can get rid of all the IDE cables, sure why not. (I needed a newer burner anyways)

Video card is usually a good idea if you have a higher end card. Prevents alot of lockups.

not to shoot you down wikked, but that is not true at all, all higher end cards you can overclock on stock air cooling, the fan an heatsinks are pretty beefy on new higher end cards.

the lockups you speak of are driver based, not heat issues!

but I hope you know windows xp only runs on 3.25 ON 32bit windows ( xp home and pro ) only thing that READS and RECOGNIZES 4gig is xp pro 64bit and vista, so that being said 4 gig worthless.

from my experience, 2gig is max that you need on 32bit XP since there is NO difference in bencemarks on 3or4gig over 2!!!

also, 2 gigs of performance memory ( 800mhz or above with low latency ) will out do any 4 gig of NORMAL memory.

just thought Id throw that in there!

yup, I hear you. Like I said, I had a bigger difference going form 1 gig to 2 gigs, then 2 to 4 gigs. Having 4 gigs is not hurting me in any way shape or form, and I am more then ready for Vista now. (also, I do a small bit of DVD editing, so the more the better for memory for me)

COH is like Age of empires, age of mythologies, star craft, but WWII style. and its alot more in depth as far as, it matters where your guys are and they really hide behind things.. its a RTS..... only downfall i think is, it takes awhile to get used to the offensive game play. IMO. we play at my buddies house on fridays with 4 computers on LAN... HAHA

The biggest difference with Company of Heroes is that you select a squad, not just one unit. This is different and kind of neat at the same time. Also, you will need a good computer to run it.

Also, as a side note, I HATE it when people call it "COH". I think they are refering to City or Heroes, a game I truely believe is a better MMORPG then World of Warcraft. :chair:

The original subject matter has been cashed. What more can you say about it? :P
Everyone threw in their opinions/systems, and now it's strayed a bit, but at least it's still relative to the topic :)
