Well finaly after a whole lot of dickn around I'm back in the military.

Previouly I served 8 years in the Army Nat Guard, got out for 2 years.

Now I'm doing a 6 year hitch with the Air Nat Guard.

So far the Blue side of life seems way better than the way things were on the Green side.

Unfortunatly with the 440th closing the WI Air Guard is full to about 110% so I had to join the IL Air Guard. Nice 4 hr drive to Peoria, but its not to bad.

In the army I started as a 63D, then got 63H, also worked as 63B (mechanic jobs)

In the air force Im going is as a 2T131 which is a Skill Level 3 Vehicle operator. And I may be sliding into a mechanic possition if the waiver goes through to accept my army training in lou of Air Force training.

Nope, I tried to but kind of got screwed. I talked to the recruiter and she said they had an operator slot and that if I had a CDL I could get in with out going to basic or tech school which I needed because of my full time job. So I got a CDL, filled out a crap load of paper work, went to MEPs and took the physical, then the next day when I was trying to schedule the time to come get sworn in they told me the slot wasn't available anymore, the Chief was holding it for some guy from the 440th. Did some calling around, Madison didnt have anything, Volk Field didnt have anything, next closest one and where I ended up is 182 Airlift Wing out of Peoria, IL

Thanks Dave, It was just bad communication between the Recruiters and the Chief. I was pretty pissed when it happened but I'm over it, I got in and things seemed to work out better for me in IL being that Ill most likely beable to slide into the Mechanic slot. And who knows in a few years if some slots open up I may just transfer back up here into the 128th

Well, at least you have a positive attitude towards things and that is a big plus in the military. They are always changing something on us.

There is a dock guy on here???
I work in the electric shop, right next to your new hole in the wall office.
