and on the friggin interweb! Must be nice...

I was at boot from 12/1/88 to 2/17/89(Old Corps ;)). I don't remember a lot of happiness during boot camp. I do remember the DI freakin pissed he had duty on Christmas. We were in the pit most of the day, "Digging for Discipline" as he called it. Good times. :D

Sugar Cookies! I always loved the Island Hopping Campaign where you went from pit to pit until you hit every one on the Depot.

I feel cheated every time I hear another Marine talking about this island hopping...my DIs never did this to us. What a gyp.

One thing I will always remember form Boot Camp is when a plane arrived or departed at the SD Airport we always shouted "Capt. A.A. Cunningham"

The other thing I LOVED to do was setup the DI's runway with all the foot lockers against one wall, and all the racks against the other.

It was for Instructional usage. We would but the foot lockers side to side on one side of the squadbay and the racks side by side on the other. This way the DI could walk on top of the foot lockers to give us instruction. It was one of those 60 second or less things that really took longer no matter how you did it. That is considering you needed to move 45 double racks and 90 foot lockers quickly, and you HAD to have 4 recruit's to move a rack and 2 to move a foot locker.

I do not remember exactly what it was called.

My platoon never did that as well.

I would go back to boot.:) I would have applied for DI school, but my MOS didn't allow you to apply for "B-Billets" (i.e. recruiter, embassy or DI duty).

Any of you guys happen to bump into one of your DI's after boot?

Now they also consider SOI Instructor and MOS School Instructor B Billets. It's getting to be about that time for me...........

I havent seen any of my DI's, but my Heavy is from Rockford.

Never ran into any of my 3 DI's or my SDI. Mopar, what was your MOS again? I kind of got forced into my B-Billet, which was a good thing. I would go back, but I am not really sure if I would be able to go back to my old mos AND B-Billet. That, and I do not know if I have to reattend all the schools I did. Several of the schools I went to kicked my arse 6 years ago, I cannot imagine what it would do to me now.

7324 Air Traffic Controller (old corps)
6724 (new corps)

We were always in short supply and were rarely offered the chance for a B-Billet.

8154 Marine Corps Security Force CQB Team member (a.k.a FAST team).

I had alot of fun with FAST (Feet Antiterrorism Security Team), and I got sent to a fair amount of kick arse schools inside the military.

wasn't my choice....believe me - I'd rather stay and finish 2 weeks earlier. :(

#5 - yep.....I hit 33 of 40 targets...never shot a weapon of any kind before. I'm happy with sharpshooter.

#6 - I already spent Thanksgiving and Xmas in the Marines....this going home is a whole new experience for me. I don't really like the idea of getting a break.

#9 - MMM....Island hopping...that sucked

#14 - we called it the mini-grinder......and yeah - never was enough time.....don't you dare drag the racks of the ground at all

anyways...yeah - its good to be home.
