Who is the guy with HP tuners on here? Badls1... anyone else? Do you have the capabilities of tuning a 2006 silverado with the 5.3?

I can tune a 98-03 Dodge 3.9,4.7(Jeep also),5.2, and 5.9?? and the 03 5.7..?
I don't see how it's relevant, but i tried?

how much would you want to do a tune? What kinds of gain could you get out of it when all I have is just a CAI and a cat back?

Well it cost's 2 credits, so that $ 100 plus $ 100 for me to do the work.

It can help with those mods you currently have... kinda alot of stuff to list it can do, but i can adjust virtually every parameter of the ECM.

But if you are not running 89 or better fuel it cant be made to run at max potential cuz the timing has has to be left alone.

But the fueling usualyl goes bunk with those mods, tranny stuff can always helped out too, rev limiter and shift poitns raised.

HP tuners havent realesed dodge stuff yet.

You must have a hypertech, jet chip or SCT?

Superchips programmer.. lol Just did my Durango last night with CAI, catback and TB. Feels like a completely different truck.

if I put on a larger TB, larger mass air meter, and possibly thought about a cam and headers, I wonder what kind of gains HP tuners would yield then?

Tom, what cam would you recommend for my engine if I do a lot of towing? I'm lookin for that good low end torque.
EDIT: I wasn't really planning on doing headwork really, so keep in mind the valve train other then the cam would probably remain as it is. I don't want to do too much to the engine and end up voiding my warranty.

Dont even waste money on a maf or TB. Both are decent stock, plus the trucks have the 85mm maf anyway.

A a mid/low 220's duration cam will keep all the power and torque in the lower half more.

You have to change at least springs and push rods when doing a cam.

It all depends how far off it is.. if its way out of whack it will feel all new after a tune, if not too far off it wont gain much. It would need a tune regardless after supermax headers or a cam to run right.

hmmm, somethin to think about at tax return. would ported heads and a new cam void my warranty? whats the most I can do without voiding my warranty but still giving me decent gains?

cracking the engine opewn would most certainly void the warranty.

All you have done right now is about the end of where you can go if give a rip about the warranty.

that blows. Would some HP tuners tuning on it void my warranty? if so, that sucks ass. I do like the warranty though, just in case something should ever go wrong. Ya never know if you bought a friday car, whether its brand new or not...

Do they make under drive pullies? if so, are those worthwhile? If I decide to not care about my warranty, id like to do H.C.I. and a blower :D

pretty much anything LSx based you can use.

get longtubes yet, and start thinking about a tune.

ported heads, and cam, or even the new GM L76/L92 stuff would make your girl into an easy 400whp monster.

what is L76 L92 stuff? im new to LSx engines. But like I said before, I want the power, I just want to keep my warranty too :(

you can't have one without the other. lol

the new stuff I was referring to was LS7 based stuff that works on the other LSx based stuff.

oh wait. I just remembered, that only applies to truck 6.0+ and LS2 based stuff. your bore is too small, and so is LS1 too.

and if you're looking for power I've got some exhaust tips that give big power. I'm looking to get maybe $80 for the pair, the price of one.

Tuner's wont nessicarily void the warranty, its hard for them to tell the computer has been manipulated. But i always keep a copy of the stock file so it can be dumped back into it in 30 sec.

i burned the warranty book on the camaro... but i was lucky and only had one issue with it, power window motor... that got replaced no questions asked and it had a smallish cam in it then... But if its powertrain... then they get a little wierd about stuff you modded.

only way you can tell if it would even be worth tuning is to scan it and see if it far out of wack after the current mods...

But just drive it, unless your going to do something that is wild, like headers or cam... enjoy its stock, civilized 20 mpg. Besides its faster than them new 3v F 150s stock anyway... prolly quicker than a hemi being my colorado when it was stock with a I5 was stiff competion for 2wd ones!

Having owned both back-to-back... this is a true statement.

The Ford motor seems like it pulls weight more comfortbly though.

And i can atest to this as well, being the old man has owned 3 full sizes since 99 and the 5.3 truck motor is kinda rev happy like the LS1 and makes most of its power in the higher RPM's. And really lag in low end torque.

Towing 7,000 lbs , keeping it in 3rd and having it stay around 2500 rpms is the only way to have ample power at hwy speeds and still do 80-85 mph :rolf

But pulling about 9 mpg in the process hahah 6.5 on E85

yeah im only getting 20mpg unloaded on a flat highway with the wind at my back. I want more low end torque though. I tow my stock car around, and combined weight with all the people inside the truck, full tank of gas in the truck, all my tools, tires, the trailer, race car with a full tank of gas, and all the other shit like coolers full of soda and whatnot, Im probably around 7,000lbs.

Hey tom...

a friend of mine who has HP tuners and a datalogging box recorded a little bit of my trucks computer. I have the file I can send to you. Perhaps you can look it over and determine if any changes can be made that would be beneficial?
