Now here is the special one. If you look at the red dot to the left of the main engines you can see one of the solid rocket boosters falling away. It's pretty amazing to see it in person since you can pretty much follow them straight into the horizon.

Overall Im glad I went again. Not sure on how many more night launches there will be before they end the shuttle program. It's also amazing on how long you can actually see the main engines burn for. i was listening to the radio transmissions and could still see the engine plain as day when they were cruising past 8500mph. Im sure some of you will ask what the noise is like. Well from where I was sitting this time it's much louder. The ground shakes a bit and stays steady for about 20-30 seconds. If I had to take a wild guess on how far I was away from the launch pad it would be in the area of 16-18 miles away.

Hope you all enjoy the pics. Sorry they couldn't be of better quality. It's my first time taking pictures at night.

man that is sweet. I still think its amazing how they can just travel in and out of the earths atmosphere. I have always been interested in the universe and space travel and all that. I can't wait until they are able to get guys onto other planets! Hopefully it happens in my lifetime.
