Is there an adaptor of some sort that can go on a regular jack that holds the transmission pan for install/removal? where can I pick one up? tried searching sears online but didn't find exactly what i'm looking for. or am i pretty much stuck having to buy a whole seperate jack? i'm not looking for one that is for pulling something when it's on a lift, that's TOOO big. just looking for a regular floor jack adapter.

And where's the nearest harbor freight

Yup, here's an example.

A local parts store may have one.

I got one at Fleet Farm, it was an ATV jack thing with a stabilizer for the jack... don't know what happened to it though, I think I let someone borrow it and never got it back...

I bought the one from northern tool. it SUCKS!!!

Go the 'plywood' method. I drilled 4 holes in the swivel plate on my jack and bolted a piece of oak to it.

The Northern one ain't to bad I used it to pull auto trans out of my 2000 Camaro. Can only adjust from side to side. Price was just over 45 bucks.
It sits way high when in floor jack. Have to jack car way up on jackstands to get it under car with trans on it.

I have the harbor freight one also, its pretty much the same as the northern tool one. I pretty much sucks. Like someone else said it sits really tall so to make it work you need to get the car about 18-24" off the ground. Also for a manual the little tabs that you adjust to hold it at the right angle, they dont hold for crap, just to weak of a design. I would suggest saving the money and doing the plywood adapter on your floor jack.

I had my car about 26 inches off the ground and made a wood bracket for my floor jack. Worked pretty good.
