Going to college in the spring semester...

Ive gotta take that accuplacer test which test ur basic skills for placement etc etc...

Im wondering if anyone took this recently or would remember what all the math part consists of? and do they allow calculators?

Thanks!

I'm guessing this is similar to the one you take at WCTC?? If it is, it was easy!

If it's anything like the rest of UW-4 year tests, you can use a non-text calculator.

Like Joe said, it wasn't bad at all. Just don't waste your time taking the spanish test:rolf . What they don't tell you... is that the WHOLE test is in SPANISH. My 5 word spanish vocab couldn't get me though the first question:rolf

You might need a calculator with a square root button.

The one for UW 4-Year Schools wasn't that hard either... I took that one too... :rolf

Yeah i have a scientific calculator already... math is a breeze with one. But i didnt know if they allowed one, being your math skills are only as good as you are with the calculator lol. Not a true test unless u gotta do everything manually and show work i would think. Just didnt know if they for sure allowed a calculator at all was my big concern

I can't remember if I used one on the WCTC one, but I know I had one for the UW System one...

on my accuplacer you couldn't even use a calculator....i took mine at downtown matc...just some simple math make sure you know fractions and hope you remember the "foil" process

i know most of the all the crap that has to do with fractions and can do them long hand luckily... What do you mean by "foil" process?

The foil method is used to multiply binomials. It stands for first, outer, inner, last.

An example would be
(x + 2y)(x + y) = x^2 + 2y^2 + 3xy

I would make a phone call to figure out the details of the certain test you are taking. Each school will have different rules. Some calculators may be allowed, while others may not. Qwerty, graphing, scientific, simple, etc.
