What is your Service Fee??

We just changed ours, and *I* was put in charge of changing all the buyers guides and adendums in ALL of our cars... I really don't like my job right now... :rolf

BTW I'll post up ours after I see a few others... :rolf I think ours is a little steep... :stare

Can't they bury this little "fee" elsewhere in the transaction? Whenever a customer sees any type of line item resembling additional fees, that's a invite to create one pissed off customer.

I think Hiller had that a few months ago. I can't recall the amount but they charged it on the 1st vehicle we bought and I think they waived it on the second one we were going to buy that day.

Isn't that like "freight and setup" on a sled, ATV, etc? That amount is negotiable to a degree, right?

The amount is non-negotiable. It's a paperwork processing fee aka "Service Fee" Sometimes it can be waived by the dealership, but if you don't say anything about it, you're paying it. And there really isn't anywhere else to burry it 'casue if you put it in the price of the car ant the customer negoiates the price of the car it goes buh bye, plus I think it's REQUIRED by the state of WI to be on the Disclosure.

They can bury it pretty easily by just not moving that much more on the car price and then telling you they're "waiving" the fee. Does it really matter where the price is recorded or what line it's on if it's the bottom line that you're paying it? It's kinda like when they'll move lots on the car, yet give you d!ck for the tradein. It's all there, just depends which way they write it right?

Ehhh depends... But we show our service fee on every contract, it just comes out of the car's price if we include it.

Sometimes dealerships move heavily on cars when they're trying to turn inventory.

when I bought my quad from G&G in Muskego, they waived my crate and setup fee and even came down in price on the quad itself.

They got it from you somehow.. they just didn't show it to you. The ATV dealers never lose money. There's so much margin on a quad it isn't funny.

For us it's gunna be a pain on true budget cars... "Yeah, your $995 car is now $1400 with TTL & Service Fees" That'll go over just GREAT... :rolf

A dealership by me puts a "Enviromental protection package on every car $895 (B.S.) and wheellocks $89" My dealership has no service fee's or add on's.

When one of there customers comes to us I can usually sell them at sticker or hold back on the trade and make some cash. Can beat there price pretty much every time.

HOLY SHIT JOE!!! That's outrageous.

It IS state required to be put on the contract. No matter what you say, they will always have the service fee with a number next to it on the purchase contracts. Sure, you an get all pissy about it and whine and get the price of the car down, but it'll still say it up top.

Ours was like $87 i think? Then it jumped to $129 a few months ago.

Braegers was $122 when i was there two years ago. Might have jumped up but I haven't been there in forever.

But seriously Joe, that's outrageous. I swear there was a state LIMIT as to what you could charge and it was like $150? So maybe that part jumped up and that's why all the dealerships are jumping up too.

I think the big stores put on wheel locks and i know my salesmen always gave the customer the option of keeping it or not. it just was the SMART thing to do to keep wheels on the vehicles. just like when we would have service take out the DVD players from the big SUV's
