lol following suit with the cavalier....

Well the civic is and always will be the benchmark for small cars... I had an 05civic my self, aside from the performance aspect it was 10X better than the 05' cobalt my mom has. She has had no issue with it in 30,000 miles.

Some magazines are biased too ive noticed, one will say it sucks, the other says its the best thing since sliced bread...

Its is light years ahead of the cavalier though.

The Cobalt isn't a BAD car....I just think that you can get higher quality car with a greater resale 2 years from now by looking at a Civic or a Corolla

Keep in mind Consumer Reports is one of the biggest blackmailers out there. They've always hater American made cars and products.

I'd trust the words of Al Jeezera over Consumer Reports.

I think it was their crash ratings that were among the worst.

I got one as a rental out in California.
The gas pedal feels "dead."
Handles like poop.
And the visibility is bar none the worst in any car I've driven.

I have one! To Be honest. The base cobalts are junk the seats are uncomfortable and there is no get up and go at all. When i went to pick mine up on a dealer trade i took a base base model to trade. It had roll windows manual locks 2 door auto 2.2 and then got into the 2.0 supercharged with recaros. It was like night and day difference. I have the ss model. Bigger rims/brakes/more power blah blah. its a totally differnt car in my opinion if you get a ss model over a base model. Are they good in resale NOPE. Is any american car really NOPE(IMO). Yes im sure there are better cars out there. But then you have to look at what you like to drive and if your really worried about resale. I wouldnt buy a civic for example for many reasons. 1 I always like american cars. 2. they seem to attract cops. 3. they seem to get ripped off(im sure it makes insurance higher also).

I hear Consumer Reports is somewhat biased and while I dont' doubt it....what proof or theories are there to say so? I'd like this as backup in case I get in an argument vs someone I know who swears by Consumer Reports ;).

Those are head on, flat wall. Insurance institute sends them into a half wall at 40 mph, hits driver side only. IMO thats how most real world head ons happen anyway.

Trust me, I know:D
I'll take my chances that I'll hit a smaller vehicle if I get in a 40% offset head on accident. I think my odds are higher of either hitting a smaller vehicle or hitting one on the side or rear, than hitting an equivalent sized vehicle at that offset. I am not worried about how my truck performs in other types of impacts.:D

F-150's have one of the weaker frames (if not the weakest) of all full sized trucks. My dad sees them getting junked out all the time at work.....and my uncle nearly died in one.
I guess just hope you never hit another full sized truck. Shit....even my ZR-2 has a better built frame.
