Well, Now with the GP gone I can focus some attention to the daily driver. Its a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria LX. I have a few mods in mind but not really sure where to start. Here a few pics.

A blower, a spot light, black grill, black wheels and a push bar :headbang

You wouldn't expect the blower :banana1:

What are all of the differences? I know the Interceptor has an aluminum drive shaft and the obviously bare interior, but what else?

Pilly-o has one for a winter beater, hopefully he'll chime in.

Trans cooler, bigger alternator, good radiator hoses, ect.

03CVLX
11-08-2006, 08:29 PM
Yeah, The differences are The all black grill(Thats what mine was but I had the outer ring colormatched) Black center trunk panel instead of the body color one. bigger alternator, trans cooler and engine oil cooler(I think). 3.27 or 3.55 rear axle ratio(mine is 2.73). and with intake and dual exhaust HP is up to 250 from my 224. Im sure there is stuff I am forgetting also.

I believe their suspension is heavy duty as well.

Debadge it, lower it just a little bit, do a Marauder (engine) covnersion first, then blower.

I'm jealous! I love driving Phils car, everyone just moves out of your way (or on the other end of the stick, drive really slow).

Either way, it'd be fun to mess with friends. I think some of the 2001+ models have a HID spot light too :devil

I got it for somewhere around $14,000. Not sure if you remember the car but I bought it at Gordie in West Allis back in December of 2004

Mine is a Wisconsin Highway Patrol UNMARKED.....

My friend picked up two on the same day at the state auction early this year....He has the "sister" car to mine in black...

He bought mine first thinking the black one he really wanted would be bid too high but, when the black one came up in his range he ended up with two of them....He knew I was looking for one so he called me up and and sold it to me for what he paid.......

The car is pretty nice.....it's got 110,000 on it and runs and drives great.....I will be selling it off in spring 07 to replace it with a 03-04 Vicky Police Package.....

Alright i was just wondering cause the Walworth County Sheriff had brown Vic's just like that so i just thought i'd ask. I know the Town of Delavan is planning on getting new ones this spring or summer i'll let you know if you want there around 2003-2004. I can find out more info tomarrow if you'd like there black too.

11-17-2006, 06:55 PM
Well, 2003 and up got a whole new Suspension and Frame. Car looks exactly the same but the handling and ride is a completely different experience. It still feels like your driving a La-Z-Boy but at least it isn't such a squishy ride like the older ones.

Plus now almost any wheel that fits a 2005+ Mustang is a direct bolt on. I am actually considering finding a set of 17" Ford factory Bullitt Mustang wheels for it.

03CVLX
11-27-2006, 05:33 PM
Well, Everyone who thought the car would look better with the black steel wheels. Here ya go...

I put the Winter wheels and snow tires on today. Really crappy pic below :rolf

Whatever christmas money I get is already earmarked for a set, I saw them on Ebay with tires for what sounds like a smoking deal. I am not sure if I should get the gray painted ones or the fully polished ones though. What do you guys think.

Poncho
11-28-2006, 12:52 PM
grey or fully polished would look great!

going with 17s or 18's???

seems like the price difference between 17s and 18's is dropping alot.

03CVLX
11-28-2006, 03:55 PM
Well, everything on Ebay that i have seen has been 17" wheels but I wouldn't be against 18's if I can find them. I guess I really have not decided which to get.

Wow, Thats cool man. What wheels did you wanna get for your Mustang. I found the Bullitts as new Takeoffs with brand new tires on Ebay for around $550 for the set of 4. Im not sure if thats a good price or not.

Some company makes some deep dish 18x9.5 anthracite Bullitts that fit the 05+ offsets. Those I like. Nicole likes the wheels they put on the Shelby CS6.

03CVLX
11-29-2006, 06:09 AM
You are correct the Deep dish wheels don't fit. I gotta stay with the stock offset.

Full size, rear drive, and a v8, can't beat that for a daily. I've been wanting a P.I. for a while but never have the money at the right time:goof
Do they get at least mid 20's mpg highway hopefully? :D

It will do 25 on the highway all day. If and when I actually decide to behave with the car. Its entirely too much fun slipping in behind someone and watching them sweat when they see that car in their mirror. Hell most cops wave at me when I pass by. I dunno If they think I am a detective or what.

Yep, I get that all the time too......I have grown tired of it though.....The next "panther" platform I buy will not look like a cop car....I'm thinking either a Mercury Merauder or a Crown Vic SAP car would be nice......If I do end up with a Police Package car again I will have it changed around quite a bit that it would not look like a squad car....I would like to change out the wheels on my current P-71 if I could find some for a good deal but, I don't want to spend money changing this car when I need to work on my old stuff.....

Spent the day cleaning the car. I tried the new Turtle Wax Ice liquid wax. This stuff is awesome here is the finished project.

Well, cash got a little tight but I hope to get them before summer is over. I asolutely will have to buy them by next spring though as these alloys will become my winter wheels for the snow tires. Ford and their wonderful engineering recalled all of the Steel wheels for these cars from 2003 thru 2006 for cracking welds. Since I bought my wheels from a junkyard and my car is not a real P71 police package the recall does not apply to me nor will they replace the wheels under the recall since my car was never equipped with them originally.:fire So the Bullitts are coming one way or another. Its just a question of how soon can I get them.

Well, Its not my only choice and it is almost becoming overdone on the crown vics and Grand Marquis. Tirerack has finally realized that the offset changed in 2003 and now has listings for wheels that actually fit my car LOL.. So I may change my mind when I am actually ready to make the purchase.

Here is a pic of a 03 Crown Vic with the polished bullitt wheels. This is NOT my car obviously its just an example of what it would look like.

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e287/quasar3210/CrownVicBullitts.jpg

I would go with the polished for sure since my car has way more chrome than the one above. I would also be sure mine has the Ford blue oval centers to finish it off.

Well, Today I found out I got ripped off on my dual exhaust. I took it to a different shop today because of a vibration I was hearing occasionally. I found out that the tailpipes were bent wrong and just touching the rear axle, also the "flowmasters" are fake and the supposed stainless steel tips were rusting after 4 months on the car. No one can tell what mufflers I do have.

They had to cut off the tailpipes and rebend them so I had them put on a set of Stainless steel Magnaflow tips. I think it turned out much better. Before and after pics below.

:3gears::3gears::3gears:

Before I say where I had the before work done, I should say Ripped off may have been a poor choice of words. Ill let you all form your opinions from the whole story.

I had the Dual exhaust done at a place called Kern's Mufflers on about 20th & Hampton in Milwaukee. They were recommened to me by a friend who had a stock exhaust replaced there. This shop told me verbally they were putting Flowmasters on but the reciept has nothing in writing, I didn't think much about that until today. They did the entire exhaust for $359.00

I had the new tailpipes and tips done at Wisconsin Muffler on 36th and Lincoln. They originally qouted me around 600 to do the same exhaust work. Although that was including "REAL" Flowmaster mufflers. It cost me 150 bucks for todays work and it would be 300 more to put the real Flowmasters on.

Updates, Updates, updates...

Finally had a really nice day so I thought I would get a few pics of the new toys I added over the winter.

I finally got my XM Radio, went with a Delphi SkyFI3, It has really good sound quality, I am really enjoying it so far.

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e287/quasar3210/Crown%20Victoria/IMG_0398.jpg

I also added a bluetooth hands free kit. Its called a Parrot 3200LS-color. It works with all Bluetooth phones, and at least with the radio I have, it is connected so that when the phone rings the radio automatically mutes and I hear the person on the other end through the radio speakers.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e287/quasar3210/Crown%20Victoria/IMG_0396.jpg

I also had the shop throw in a Vehicle Specific mount to hold my cell phone. It is custom fit for the Panther dashboards. Just attach any grip mount to the VSM and it will hold whatever you need it too. Phones, Ipods etc. You can get the mounts here. Vehicle Specific Mounts (http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/vsm.html)

Here is how it all looks installed.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e287/quasar3210/Crown%20Victoria/IMG_0402.jpg

Finally, I added a Ford trunk organizer. This is the Golf caddy/organizer that I ordered accidentally thinking it was the fully carpeted organizer. Turns out It works really good and fits perfectly.

Next update will be Mercury Marauder corner lights, a Mazda RX8 Deadpedal, and a new exhaust video.

Thanks for looking..

the car looks good.
here are some of the other differences i can think of between the p-71 and regular crown vic ... boxed frame w/ gussetting, the 200mph rated aluminum drive shaft, posi rear end, heavier duty suspension and about 1/2" taller ride height, same towing capacity as a 2wd explorer, only car rated for 75mph rear collission, true dual exhaust, re-tuned computer. thats all i can think of right now. i will take more recent pics of mine, a 2000 gold p-71 lowered with 20"s and a few other simple mods.

Allen Supercharger has a really good kit for the CV

If you check out the site it says up to a 2002, don't worry if you have PI heads it's the same kit, just a typo
