good idea Dave but try it again with a clean glass and full to almost the top with beer. The head of the beer should be level and full. If it starts to settle, you'll have to dump it (or drink it) and start again...otherwise you get what you see above in your shot. The glass looks nasty and ruins the photo. Also, the PS blurred area around your subject looks cheesy. I know the background was probably boring/distracting and thats why you blurred everything but I can see where you cut out the apple on the left (blue line). Its a little TOO much blur which in turn looks fake.

Again good concept and composition.

its a good idea so I would try to shoot it again Dave. Just try and find some sort of interesting background that you can blur out naturally. Like set the beer glass , the apples and a leaf on an old fence post with a barn in the background or something. Shoot it at like F2.8...you will barely be able to see your barn but it will still be better than a stove or a microwave in the background!

damn thats a good idea...lol i need to get myself a ride out into the country.

well 3 beers later i tried it again in the back yard. i have to sort through the 50 or so pics i snapped. and see if any are alright...but i like the barn/fence post idea a lot.

From my stand point Dave, I really like your idea. The set up looks great but I agree with J there is a little too much blur around your subject and that beer glass does look nasty. GREAT IDEA THOUGH!

i'm with wikked... i gotta try my beer in the freexer trick...

maybe instead of a fall theme, we should do an alcohol theme:goof :alcoholic :alcoholic :alcoholic :rolf

nice pics though dave... and i'm with j, posisbly a clear glass would work... or a beer stein... frosty and cold... damn i'm thirsty... i need a keg-o-rator...:D

Alright, I went out tonight to attempt to get some pictures for this contest, and ended up chasing deer for 2 hours without a single good picture. I'll share my story:goof

So I go out and hit up a waterfall i found, but it was pure mud around it, so I wasn't able to get what I wanted at all
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/puresound15/FallPictures010Small.jpg
So, after climbing out of 3 feet of mud, I come up to a hill where I usually see a decent sized buck, and sure enough there's a doe standing on top, but my zoom om my camera BLOWS.
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/puresound15/FallPictures017small.jpg
While trying to **** around with my tripod another doe runs about 20 feet in front of me up by the other one, so I walked all the way around a burm and set up on top of it. I found myself a nice Menaje Twa, but again, couldn't get a good shot from that far away.
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/puresound15/FallPictures032small.jpg
After taking 20 shots, I figured I'd move a little closer. Of course, while changing my batteries, the buck I walked ALL the way there to shoot, runs in front of me (maybe 20 yards away), I didn't even have time.
This picture WOULD have been good, had I actually set my camera right :punch: .
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/puresound15/FallPictures040small.jpg
This is the only not so-shatty pic I got of them from that spot.
http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/puresound15/FallPictures051small.jpg
So after wasting 35 shots my german exchange student kai and I (Who was scared SHITLESS when the doe started scratching and huffing (I've only seen buck's do that before?), moved up to the middle of the field and counted 16deer. Mostly doe, and a few small bucks, the largest being what looked to be a 6 pointer. I took 20 pictures but ALL of them are blury from being zoomed in and not having enough light, even with the exposure set at it's longest setting.

I'll probably go back next week and try again, but I need to upgrade from my Canon A250. Minus the stake in the ground and the flash, this is the picture I'm going to try to shoot next week.

I tried to make the pictures small enough that the page wont take forever to load. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That's for sure. Just about all the leaves are down.

sounds good to me...i think we missed the boat on the fall / harvest theme.

fall is over.....time to skip this topic and move on to a new theme I think
