I always wondered if you could buy one when they were finally retired from a plane yard but I guess not.

haha remember when pepsi had the points collecting thing and they had the commercial for a harrier jet if you collected 100 million points and some guy actually collected that many and sued for false advertising :rolf

When I was in the Navy I worked on the flight deck of the USS George Washington. Would watch them take off all the time.

They go alot faster then the quoted in the show. I saw one at NAS JAX in FL,
take off the end of the runway and go straight up until you couldn't see it anymore, pretty cool.

Seen them land with panels peeling back from flyin' so fast.:headbang

Yeah I did catch the show, but my girl started giving me head about 1/2 way through so I missed the end.

Well I was right that he did take them to court, just wasn't sure the number of points the commercial was and if that case actually went somewhere. Nice find though.

I DVR'd the special last night. Barnes & Nobles has a book that just got released that is on the plane's history. I've only seen the F14 in person once and no piece of machinery is more badass.

"talk to me goose......"

I've spent some time on the flight deck myself. They are awesome, but aged and outdated. Still great aircraft, even if they're always broke! In the naval aviation comunity there's a ratio that's pretty important to think about. That's maintanance hours to flight hours. Where as a Hornet is around 2/1, a Tomcat is something like 30/1. Not only that, but the capabilitys of them are also aged and outdated. With that being said, they're still one of my favorite aircraft.

One of the very 1st books I ever read was "Fox 2". It was the story of Randy "Duke" Cunningham & his RIO William Discroll- they were talked about on that show. They were the Navy's Vietnam aces with 5 Mig kills.

Fox 2= AIM9 Sidewinder= Heatseeker :thumbsup
