Looking at putting up a 2 car garage. Saw some of the Menards kits for pretty cheap and then seem to come with everything but electical. You can get something in the 650-750 sq ft range for around $4000 not on sale, I have seen them for even cheaper on sale. What do you guys think? Have any of you ever used one of these set-ups?
Thanks.

I put up a 28X40 shop with 10ft walls
100% from menards minus the slab
I came up with some drawings, just by hand, nothing too fancy.
You have to have them to get a permit.
They make sure what you want is up to code.
Then go into menards and they can help you run down the list off materials.
Buy a decent framing air nailer and go to town.
I built my entire shop myself with very little help.
I would do it again in a heartbeat.

the slab is 30X50 and was $5000 (6" thick)
The building itself was roughly 10K due to the upgrades.
dimensional shingles, decent siding, 16 on center studs.
the center stall has scissor trusses so I could put it a 2 post 9000lb
hoist.
When menards has their buildings on sale really the separate items are on sale. studs, osb, shingles, siding, etc.
so anything you design can be put together with sale items and you save $.
I hate to sound like a menards ad but I just like the place.

dood had some serious health problems a few years back and they had a replacement. The guy is on contract and does store appearances. It all happened when I had a few friends working there. The guy is popular for some reason. Me... I could do without him.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I should take a step back and not rush into this before winter. I'll do some research this winter, watch some sales, etc.
We might be adding onto our house next year anyways so maybe I'll just do it all at once.
Thanks again.

:thumbsup Good idea....you dont want them to have to come out twice for concrete...lol. You're already paying for the first full load...might as well use it all up.

I did the same thing but from Home Depot. Overall I was very happy - my garage is 24x32 (768 sq. ft.) I can't remember what the total was - maybe a tad over 4k...
