Limited PlayStation 3 Pre-Order

GameStop and EB Games will begin accepting limited pre-orders for the PlayStation 3 console on Tuesday, October 10, on a first come, first served basis. Due to extremely limited supply, we expect to deplete this allocation very quickly, most likely in minutes. We will not accept additional pre-orders at this time. To avoid an unnecessary trip we strongly recommend you call your local store to determine availability. A $100 reservation deposit is required, which can be funded with cash, credit or trade. As we cannot control production and shipping issues by the manufacturer, a reservation deposit does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch. Reservations/Purchases are limited to 1 per household.

Our limited online pre-order program will be announced at a later date, after software and accessory availability dates are confirmed. Online product pricing and availability will vary and will be fulfilled independent of store reservations.

People still want the PS3?? After I heard about the new deal with the GT games I lost a lot of interest. I think Sony kind've screwed themselves with this system.

Eh... PS3 has yet to show me a must have game yet. Their launch lineup looks to be as weak as Xbox360 was. Dissappointing to hear about the BS they are pulling with Gran Turismo. All the extras like tracks and cars you have to buy online. They say buying everything would cost a gamer up to $1000. That's a great way to kill a game series. GT was the reason I bought a PS1 and PS2, and was the sole reason I'd buy a PS3.

I agree...GT fueled a LOT of sales of PS1 and PS2

Exactly, you have to pay real/extra money online for car upgrades, new cars, and the tracks. I think someone calculated out to if you bought everything in the game it was roughly $900. $600 PS3 + $900 GT HD = $1500 of being not worth it.

G4TV's The Feed:

"Want an idea of how excited people are for the release of the PlayStation 3? How about this: Rabid fans are camping out for the chance to pre-order the system.

G4's Cheat's own Jeremy "Po1ar" Hoffman spent all last night on a street-corner in L.A.-- business as usual for Hoff--but this time he was waiting for GameStop in Culver City, CA, to open so he could get on the important list and hopefully get his hands on a PS3. According to Hoff, there were at least 20 people waiting through the night, eating snacks and playing DSs with each other, waiting to get on the all-important list.

The retailer is taking $100 deposits for the system, but this money doesn't guarantee a system on the launch date, November 17th.

"Most stores will receive a preorder allocation of eight units, while a few select stores will receive 16," a GameStop official told GameSpot.com. "In either case, employee purchases will be restricted to a total of no more than two systems per store."

Sure... only two systems will be bought by employees. That sounds like it'll happen...

We'll have photos and a scene-report later for ya. So check back."

I stopped by a gamestop just after they opened and found out people were lining up overnight for a reservation. :durr I'm sure I'll end up getting one but I done think it's worth to camp out for it. Especially the game list isnt very strong at the kick off. I guess it gives those people that have the ps3's time to look and admire a $600 system.

I'd buy a PS3 just to resell it on ebay for 2-3x what I paid.

I'd say getting $650 for a $300 xbox core system was worth me falling asleep under a blanket in sub-freezing conditions for 12 hours. Although they said PS3s would meet the demand.

I bought my 360 a few months after they released. I went to the local best buy store and they only had the core system, but there was one premium system in stock in a best buy near my employer at the time, so I picked it up on my way home. real easy. I think the 360 is a great system.

Do you need a hack for the 360 to play burned games?

I went to game stop after i got off work at 7am and was 3rd in line. I thought I would check just for fun. I did get my pre-order in. I want a PS3.

Im tempted to sell it on ebay but I dont think I will. I may camp out on release day for one to sell.
