It's quite a strange piece for sure....


It's a exhaust manifold for a Chrysler " branded" Marine engine that was made to put on a Ford's 460 engine.....


Those manifolds are clearly a Ford exhaust pattern. It isn't uncommon for a company to use a competitor's product or part when they have nothing to use or if its for a limited production deal such as the marine line.


Chrysler was the 1st of the Big 3 to get out of the marine business. Ford folllowed shortly after since there was little profit in producing marine engines leaving the market to GM.

Chrysler used Ford engines in the 60s when they bought the Roots Group that built the Sunbeam Tiger as retooling the chassis to fit the 273" Mopar was not cost effective and impractile and was considerably heavier that the 289 SBF. Chrysler referred to the SBF as "Brand X" engines in the Tigers
