I am searching for a new daily driver, just sold my Olds Bravada......
I am not TOO familiar with imports, should there be anything I should be asking this guy from IL about the car he's sellin? (other than lowering that damn price) :chair: Any issues w/these GSX's? I just like the AWD for through the snow, not too interested in takin it down the track. Got my Z for that. Thanks!! :thumbsup

as a DSM person..i would say that $4500 for that 1G is to much..you can find them for about $2500 if you look around

Yea, AMS is right in Chicago, they're good peoples.

$4500 is a little much, but depending on the mods, you never know...

The 1990 cars were oddballs, and most people stay away from them because they have some parts on them that can ONLY be replaced by parts from 1990cars.

You could find a stock 2nd gen (95-99) AWD for that price, with less miles, less rust.

Also, the Eagle Talon TSi AWD is the same exact car (besides the body panels), you can find them for much less, and the insurance is much cheaper :thumbsup

3,000k... isnt that like $300,000 on mods? or maybe it's more, I'm no math genius. Still seems like a higher price for one of those. I'd look around a bit more.

honestly this is the funniest $h1t i've heard in a while...a 1g 90' dsm to top it off as a DAILY! :rolf :rolf STAY FAR FAR AWAY from dsm's as daily drivers unless you want to become a full time mechanic. just my 0.02 and plus that car is only worth maybe $2k if its clean

I don't think its a BAD idea to have a nice, clean DSM as a daily driver. You just need to watch the modding on it.

DSM = Don't Start Modding

A few bolt ons and you'll be fine. Its when you get greedy and try and build a low 12 second daily that you will have issues. I too think that price is high for that car. I've seen REALLY clean cars go for that. REALLY clean ones

ill agree with you partly..there are a few guys on WIDSM.org that have 12 sec cars and run them as there DD most of the time..but once you are serious into modding you better know what you are doing..a well built 12 sec DSM can be a DD..the reason that you hear so many of them blowing up or stop running after they modded them is because they dont know what there doing.

IDK, I know a few guys that tried to DD stock ones, and still ended up with 'em being off the road more than on...

The main reason they have a bad rap is because everyone goes straight for the mods and doesn't give a second thought to MAINTENANCE.
Most of these cars have 100k or more, that's why sh1t breaks all the time.

If most people spent their cash on maintenance first, their sh1t wouldn't be broke all the time.

I've had 4 DSM's, and really haven't had ANY problems.
The few I had were my fault or related to maintenance. (crank pulley seperated after 120k mi (duh), tranny pump after 140k miles (not bad at all)

Other than that... I can't think of any real problems I've ever had... no blown engines, no dead parts, nothing.
I've always done the maintenance on mine, and I think it shows ^^^.

That's true, my '93 GSX went 194k with no problems (that I knew of, I only had it a short time)... As long as it was driven softly and not pounded it would of made 200k... Too bad the guy I sold it to decided to beat the shit outta it, and dropped the transmission about 2 days later... AWD Burnout + DSM + 194K = REALLY BAD IDEA

I used to have a 91 GSX and had an aftermarket boost guage that was readin 28Lbs of boost. It was nearly unstoppable. I rigged that thing up so much it was funny. Stock motor, re-routed LARGER DIAMETER vacuum hoses, shimmed wastegate :)) and a bunch of other garbage, it was my daily driver. I had no idea what i was doing, it just seemed to work. It lasted for about 80,000 miles. I bought it with 130,000 and sold it as is with over 200,000. Wait, i take that back, I fried the stock clutch & transmission. Put in a new set-up thats it. But still, no way im payin $4000 for this pile. I MAY go check it out. Like I said, i don't want to take it down the track, im lookin for the all wheel drive through the snow. It just may be a plus that is a bit quicker than stock.

Ended up gettin a fuel friendly 94 Grand Am GT. No pics available yet, i'll keep you posted. It has a lil work to do, it has an exhaust leak. I may put a Flowmaster 40 series on it to give that mellow soundin 3.1 a nice tone. Other than that, its real nice.
