Video Camera questions

I am looking for a digital camcorder to use for my business to record shows. Can anyone tell me the difference between the little casette type deal and the little dvd. Which is better? Any camera reccomendations from anyone?????

I do not like the little DVD cameras but eh. Thats just my opinoin on them.
