Read it in carcraft. A company called ERL is building a superdeck that extends the deckheight allowing it to engulf a 4.50" crank in it. Start pulling the motor!!

already talked to them about it :) quite interesting. they have it going on a moderator of LS1tech's forced induction car to test the sealing capabilities at higher boost too.

$12,000 shortblock :)

who makes a cyl head to support that kind of cubes?you would need something with 400-450cfm to make a decent running motor or it will die at 4500rpm....lol

a good number of people are getting wicked numbers from the heads. some of the better known guys are getting 350cfm out of the stock casting LS6 heads

now add in companies like dart and AFR making castings. then ETP which seems to be the best, making some 11* heads instead of our stock 15* valve angle, you can get some VERY impressive numbers from them.

Chris did post these ERL decks last year. I just saw em in a HOT ROD or PHR magazine again lately. It still sounds like it's in a somewhat experimental stage? (i.e. I don't think there are dozens of people who have bought production pieces yet).

Bahhh as much as i like the LS1... It would be easier and cheaper to make an EFI BBC.

cheaper to do a C5R block and not have the worry, albeit slightly smaller cubic inch, but then with some C5R heads, ahve a REAL race engine with alot better durability.

and then like Tom said, you could go and get some 572 EFI motor and really get crazy for even less money

Think a efi 572 would fit in my mustang? I'm sick of my little 281........

Gotta stay EFI though... I cant bare the thought of a carb on a late model car that came with EFI.

It would stay efi

I'm thinkin you could squeeze a bored & stroked 460 in that engine bay... I think they make a kit for the fox chasis cars... :durr Get the shoe horn out!!! :thumbsup I've got a 460 Block that could be used :stare :devil

EDIT: And yes, they make EFI systems for 460 engines...

I just saw one this weekend in a fox. The guy said he plans on just pulling the motor when it's time to change the plugs. There is NO WAY to get those things out on the pass side.

what about a LS2 based 455??? MTI makes a nice ass one, can handle the FI nicely too.

What have they've got for an intake manifold for that then? Do they simply have an adapter? Or would you need a whole new manifold fabricated?

Plus, what rod and rod lengths are they using with such a combo?

Crawlin

same typical rod lengths they are using in the other setups. 6.125" rods, any manufacturer. big stroke cranks and just altering the compression height of the piston.

for the intake, alot of it is some custom made, heavily altered aftermarket pieces.

It's Mike Brown, of the ohio boys, who has an 8.40 on drag radials 3800lb '02 T/A that is the test bed i was talking about before. that yellow anniversary edition one

Of course...it's just that IF they are using the 6.125 inch rod, that leaves pretty crummy rod/stroke ratio for some poor rod geometry, and thus thrustwall loading, poor dwell ATDC, etc. I'd would have thought that they'd have to be using some aftermartket/special rod of at least 6.5-6.7, if not 7 inch rod for the combo...

umm price.

19k Though I'm sure a ton less for just the motor, since they have a package for the GTO. That being said, if I ever win the lottery, I'm going straight to them. From what I've read, even though it's big power, the car runs and drives like it's lightly modded, can't tell it's a big 455 in there.

c'mon tom, it's worth it. 605hp/610tq, all NA, and mild. but I know that price includes EVERYTHING. all parts, all upgrades, all installed, etc.

7.5 Liter (455 cubic inch) Super-Stroker Includes: 4340 Forged Steel Crank, Billet Steel Connecting Rods, Forged Aluminum Ceramic Coated Pistons,

compared to the 427 "package" it's not all that more.

I would ditch the LS1 for an EFI BBC for that kinda price.
