WOW, that is crazy. You would think after 56 years being submerged it would have no chance of running. That has to be 1 in a billion! Maybe being caked in mud and such that helped seal the thing up?:wow

The story states the Germans must have captured the vessel and used it as their own.

This was before they decided to see if it could float. :goof

To be fair, though, it was in a peat bog. Peat bogs are anaerobic - they hermetically seal whatever gets trapped inside :thumbsup

During battles in the summer of 1944, the tank was captured from the Soviet army and used by the German army. (This is the reason that there are German markings painted on the tank's exterior.) :thumbsup
