I have the same thing. I can run any program I want (Spybot, adaware, mcafee, microtrend housecall) and I still have a virus that pops up in all of them. Including one that changes my homepage to http://www.safetyhomepage.net/

Pain in the ass :mad:

I have an awesome virus! My computer just shuts down or turns off! Then when I turn it back on it go to some crazy dell screen and stay there. I turn the computer off then back on, start it up in safe mode. From there I do a restart and its fine for an hour or two then shuts down again. :chair: I love it I cant wait till it just donst work any more. I run all my virus and adware programs and nothing I do a disk clean up or defrag and it shuts down. :fire POS!

I can make house calls for a small fee :shades
I have -never- been beaten by a virus/spyware/adware.

For now... this 'should' fix it... not saying you don't have more problems than that though.

------------------------
You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Please download http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.

The main problem is people going to sites that they shouldnt go to, and just get hammered with scripts and all kinds of junk.

Usually, it's not easier, for me anyway.
Most of the time I can get rid of junk in less than 10mins :P

spybot inserts other forms of crap into the program. so does ad-aware. ultimate way to check is run one, it will find the other as spyware. only one i trust is Spyware Doctor. u gots to pay for it now though, too bad i got a free registration.

Neither Spybot nor AdAware have any "crap" in them.
If they're detecting each other as spyware, it's just false positives and should be ignored.
Microsoft Antispyware on the other hand... :rolleyes:

I only use AdAware / Hijackthis! / AVG... and really don't "use" them at all, because I don't need to.
I've had like one piece of Spyware in the last year, and that was through careless drunk clicking :)
