View Full Version : My Car

This is my car. It's one of those either you love it or you hate it things. I love it, so that is all that really matters to me.

It's an older picture too, but it's my favorite. It has wheels now. And better taillights. And a few other little things. My dream is to put the V8 motor from a '96-'99 Taurus SHO in it, which may happen sooner then I thought if all goes well the next few months.

Same response from every other car forum. Although I must say, I think this request happened a lot sooner then the others. Don't know whether to take that as a good thing or a bad thing.

the car does look cool though, never saw a taurus like it before. I used to have a 98 SHO, it moved pretty well for a family car :D

Matches the wild-ness of the rear end too. Not too much (okay this was basically my only option at the time) to choose from, so what I got is what I had to choose from. I just wanted to make it look different when I bought it. Never did decide whether different was bad or good in this case. But nobody else has it that I know of besides the manufacturer temporarily putting it on one to make sure it fit decently. And by decent, I mean not very well.

Andy's Auto Sport out of California. It took a little modification around the taillights. And then, of course, I modified it a bit myself with a curb and a pothole. It's all better now though, just in time for me to take it off for the snow (although it made a rather nice snow plow).

What other local forums are you on? I know I've seen that car some other place.

I have 17s on it now, which make it better. Just got new springs and struts to lower it within the next month too.

What forums are you on? I'm on Ford related forums like Taurus Club (yes, there is a Taurus club out there) and such. I drove it around a lot too.

thats a nice taurus, it's a shame ford kinda let them go in the mid to late 90's.

it was cool in the early and mid 90's when there was real competition between the midsize cars ala, taurus, grand prix, lumina, etc. by the late 90's ford gave up, and it was GTP FTW.

i know I've seen that taurus before. looks great, gotta make a kinda inconspicuous car stand out.

are there any options for anything other than a SHO motor??

I think someone should make another halfbreed -- taurus body w/ a L67 or a LS4 in there.

Yep, long time ago. Right around the time a friend of mine totalled his SVT Focus on Hwy 100. And then some of his friends went a bit psycho on the boards here, so I just went away so I wouldn't be associated with that.

Honestly Dan, I have to disagree with you here, I'd rather have the rumble of the V8 SHO motor under the hood... It's just something about it... Besides the cams needing to be welded or whatever they do... :durr

Now I'm not trying to be a jerk, but wouldn't it be less expensive to just buy a pre '99 V8 SHO car than to swap the V8 into the later body style, I'd think you'd have to change the wiring harness, gauge cluster, and quite a few more things where just buying the other car as a whole would make more sence...

To be honest, I am not a fan of the '96-'99 body style. My boyfriend had a '99 SHO when I met him and it just didn't do much for me styling wise. I'd like a V8 in it because it would be different and rare. I have a friend who is working on his own '02 and putting the V8 in it and hopefully if he is successful, I can be #2. He has quite a bit more experience in the V6 and V8 market and has made quite a career out of it. If anyone is going to get a V8 in the newer body style of the Taurus, he is going to be able to do it (and soon too!).

Besides, my car already is an automatic and I am okay with that for now. I'd rather throw the V8 in it then put in the 3.0L V6 manual or the now popular 3.2L automatic to manual swap into it.

Yeah, the AX4S transaxle doesn't have too good of a reputation. 4X4N was a bit better though.

I haven't worked there since Christmas. I had knee surgery and then got an office job while I recovered, loved it, and never went back. I worked there for quite a while though. Now I moved down to school (Whitewater) and that's that.

Body kit is getting fresh paint before I leave for a few track days in Michigan next month. All those are the in plans too for weekends and winter. I have KYB struts and Eibach springs sitting in my room. And black paint for other misc. parts too. Just give me a few months and it will be better. Although the kit may not work with the lowering springs, so I may end up doing a bit of body work.

Yeah, a word about lowering springs and front clips... They cause disasters... On my mustang with the old aftermarket front bumper, I only had 3.5" of ground clearance... That was a really big problem... One of the many reasons I no longer have the front bumper on the car...
