MY Brother in Law has a 05 Hemi 1500. He has gone through 2 or 3 water pumps in it. (warrenty covered) my Friend had a 04 and sold it about a year after having it for having a water pump and 2 power steering problems with it.
But other then those problems they like it.

they are pretty decent. just make sure to get the hemi (w/ the 20" polished wheels look best) the 4.7 is a dog in the big rams.

What he^^^^ said! Dont waste the money or truck on any other motor in that thing as they are heavy as pooo and need the biggest motor you can get.

Just make sure this guy isn't the previous owner. If he is, the truck is beat! :goof

personally I like the chevy's with their 5.3 engines. The hemi's are decent on power but some people have been having isolated problems with water pumps and whatnot. Perfect truck in my mind: the 07 Avalanche with a 99-02 silverado box, 6 or 8ft. I love the look of the new avalanche's, just don't like the 4ft bed. Anyway, no more hijack. Dodge's are good lookin trucks, I am just not too familiar with any problems aside from water pumps. Did Dodge every address the transmission issues that they were having in the mid 90's?

I have a 04 QC HEMI Laramie and she just turned over 60K today (Owned it from new)

Brakes is all I had to do so far...

Gas mileage sucks with both 2wd QC and 2500 4X4 QC (Owned them both) both combine around 12.5 to 13MPG

I have a fleet of company trucks, owned them all over the years - Ford, Chevy, Dodge... the've all had thier ups and downs over the years, I gave up brand loyalty years ago and today focus on the best deal!

Yeah its a horse a piece, IMO in the half ton market, the chevy would prevail, the 5.3 is snotty as hell and gets 20mpg yet if your nice to it, towing is up there with the rest, it just lacks in physical size from the rest. 310hp/330tq

I dont mind the the way the ram's look, i just couldnt get over that horrible gas mileage. It better run 12's stock if its gonna get 13 mpg! not 15s.

The new 3V 5.4L fords? well i havent heard much about those, i hate the interiors and picnic table top body panels... They have decent tow ratings and power. I thought they were 300/350 for pwr/trq.

well it depends on what your goin to do with the truck. If the truck you like has 30 less hp than the others, are you actually gunna need those extra ponies on a frequent basis or would you want them just in case? Ive known a lot of people that love to see the hp and tq numbers the trucks make, then they go for the most powerful truck only to have it sit in the driveway or use it for a daily driver and never tow anything or even diry up the box.Another aspect is gas milage considering the price of gas these days.Could you give up a few ponies so you can get an extra 5mpg? I know im young and i havent had the need for a truck yet but this is just my 2 cents.take it or leave it.good luck :thumbsup

having an underpowered truck is like having a 2wheel drive truck Worthless..IMO

the chevys with the 5.3 get 20mpg's??? that would be a deal swinger!!

The newer ones have 300 hp. I think it changed in 04.
