Anybody else build parts kits. Just ordered a Polish AKMS Underfolder, and was wondering if anyone had any riveting jigs, or shop presses for pressing the barrell out of the front trunion. Well, just seeing if anyone else builds these things. Thanks in advance:thumbsup .

Rocket Power

Haven't done one yet but when I do I'll probably do a screw build instead of a rivet build. Seems easier, and I am lazy.:goof

I just spent a lot of money in the last couple weeks so any building I do will have to wait:(

No,I haven't, but I have a kit.Same as Rocketpower I want to use a screw kit,and was looking at one of those fold at the line receivers.I would much rather use a stamp bended one,but cant see spending the money on the equipment,to do just one.

I am buying a 100% reciever from NDS, so i wont need a bending jig, just all the bullshirt to rivit 'er together

If you want 100% recievers for decent prices, I suggest waiting and checking out some of the upcoming gun shows in the area. There are some usual vendors that always have various makes.Seen several from $100-$140 range.Yellow form on the spot, and go home with it.Sometimes run into private sales too if you want to be ultra paranoid. lots of people suggest a TAPCO G2, but i hear RSA FCGs are the shiyyat, and will most likley use them. BTW, FAL guys, Centerfire Systems has FAL parts kits for cheap right now http://www.centerfiresystems.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=727 , not matching #'s tho . Too bad FAL recievers are not cheap!

I know how that is. How can they sleep at night charging $100 for a flippin' book?
I am itching for a new firearm. I was thinking of ordering a CZ-52 but not positive yet. They're supposed to be fun:banana

MurphysLaw88GT
09-12-2006, 11:52 PM
The cz52's are cheep right now. Gte the ones finished in grey, they are originals in nice shape, instead of remanned "black" ones. BTW, i paid more than 100$$$ a book, for a few books

Rocket Power
09-13-2006, 09:46 PM
Damn, my most expensive one was $110:stare

I am going to see what the gunshow this weekend brings otherwise I'll be ordering a CZ on Monday from either SOG or AIM.
BTW all this AK talk made me order up some Tapco flats a few minutes ago:rolf
Figured for 6.99/ea I can let them sit for a while if need be:thumbsup

Rocket Power
09-14-2006, 03:40 PM
Will do. I really would like to do a pistol build too just for fun. Hmm maybe a should do a couple ak's instead of the FAL. decisions ,decisions:goof

I go to gunco.net once in a while I don't remember if I've ever posted, mostly a lurker. I am vista461 there and most everywhere else except here and bcsm.

MurphysLaw88GT

If you are into Krink kits, think about getting one soon before they dry up, as the shipments of "quality" kits are becoming a memory, and many parts kit suppliers are scraping the bottom of the barrel lately. I only got one from Bob at Akron Armory cause his kits are reputed to be awesome, which i can vouch for, even with mine being "service grade", it is much nicer than i had envisioned. As for a AK "pistol", kinda neat, but something I could get into trouble with easily LOL. BTW, the AKMS kit i got from Akron Armory is pictured here at Bob's site... www.akronarmory.com/. It is pictured under the "Tantal" kit.

Rocket Power
09-14-2006, 08:59 PM
Hmm maybe I will give up on the FAL. I could do a bunch of different AK builds, Pistol, Rifle, SBR if I have some extra $$ to give to the ATF:goof

Everyone loves an AK, Last time I went shooting with my friends my WASR was a crowd favorite:goof

MurphysLaw88GT
09-14-2006, 10:56 PM
My WASR is a poorly finished pos.the trigger is the muddiest trigger pull i have felt in a while too. Retarded apes with hammers and welders build em for CAI. At least i got it for free

Rocket Power
09-14-2006, 11:02 PM
I have a single stack so it came unmolested by the century monkeys:rolf
Mine is decent and I paid like $230 at Dunhams for it.
I got the single stack so if I wanted to cut out the well I could and would only have myself to blame if turned out crappy. But since it looks like I'll be doing at least one AK, I guess I am going to leave it as is. Maybe throw a red dot on it and use it for deer.:banana1: Where I hunt the shots are short.

MurphysLaw88GT
09-15-2006, 08:27 AM
There are templates that you can put on the gun while you cut.

Rocket Power
09-15-2006, 08:36 PM

Can't wait to see if there is anything good at the gun show tomorrow:banana1:

Rocket Power

Gun Show was crap everthing was over priced:mad:
No decent AK kits, I did see a polish tantal but it didn't look that great. A guy was selling cz52's for 250, I don't think so.:goof

I ended up buying gun stuff at stores today. Dunham's has 7.62x39 for $2.99/box so I picked up 15 boxes:thumbsup and my tapco flats got here. 2 have no rust i can see 1 has a rust stain and 1 will need about 10sec with a wire wheel:banana def worth 6.99 each.

Got my kit I ordered a parts missing kit from century, it was $69 with my discount. Well it was missing parts but I did get $69 bucks worth of parts, but I will need some stuff to do a build with it. It is a 1964 Romanian, but not a "G" rifle. Worth a shot , but I will get my next kit elsewhere. At least the bbl, bolt and carrier and gas piston were there.:goof

Trigger group, part of the spring guide rod, upper handguard, pistol grip, front sight post, rear sight. Blueing is pretty wiped out, but it's an AK not a new browning so I don't care about that. That's all I can think of right now. The trig group is no big deal, since I'd be getting a G2 anyway. All in all I didn't get ripped off but it wasn't as good a deal as I thought I might get. Live and learn

That's century for you:goof not sure how easy that'll be without f'in up the tube or receiver. Santa Barbara loved their spot welder when they built my gun, they had what looks like 8 spotwelds plus the receiver to cockingtube joint weld.
Did century just do the one at the front of the receiver?
here's a pic of my cocking tube and trunion from today, Looks like one or two of the spotwelds held on too good and removed holes in the tube. I don't think they'll be a problem since it's inside the receiver

Last one's I saw at the gunshow was like $230:wow but that dude always has overpriced stuff.

If they were actually honest, they'd admit it's not the people who obey the laws who are the problem, it's the criminals. And that law ain't going to do crap about them.

Thats exactly what it is. The sarcasm in there is so thick, I love it! It was set up by some guys on AR15.com. One of the things that pisses me off is the term "assult weapon" being thrown around to make a rifle sound evil. Technically speaking, an assult rifle is one that:
-fires ammunition with muzzle energies intermediate between those typical of pistol and battle rifle ammunition
-fires 20-30 rnd detachable mags
-has a pistol grip
-has a flash hider
-has a bayonet lug
-is select fire.

Now, select fire means that it is selectable from semi to full auto. Clinton's ban of "assault rifles" technically banned M-16's (not AR-15's) and all other similar rifles that are not class 3. It was just given the term "assult rifle" to scare people and is now commonly (wrongly) used to categorize certian types of firearms.
