Should probably get some APC or Greddy muffler bearings as well, don't wanna burn up the stock ones with the higher voltage flux capacitor...

And you'll probably need some Cross-Drilled Brake Lines to keep it all under control..

Waver

What is the web site that you can get that stuff on....I think they also have some cross drilled plug wires too

First - Welcome To Brewcity Hope you enjoy your stay!

Second - WOW, nice to see everyone is overly helpful.

I think if i had one i'd just do an intake and exhaust 2.5"?
And a boost controller. a Front mount intercooler and blow off valve
as well as a rechiped ECU or somesort of ECU tune
Now i'm not sure how Jetta's respond to these kind of mods so you
will wannt to check with a VW forum or a Jetta Forum. I know i see enough off these on High Wah 100 that seem to go decent. But yeah you might wanna check out a VW Site. good luck! - Nick

Serious question ?........... Are you for real?

Dont get me wrong, 1.8T's are cool and all, but thats kind of a wierd thing to just come out and say. Considering there are 2 pages currently about this thread and only 3 posts by the starter.... Again.... Is this for real?

If so: Chip, exhaust and intake. V Dub guys tell me thats the best bang for the buck when they are stock. If you want 1/4mi times add a set of slicks to the list.

You have to remember Jake not everyone has a 9 second "Zip Tie" LOL If he just got this there is a good chance this car is "fast" to him. :thumbsup

I think people are ribbing on this guy because:

A: his initial, and only post in this thread came off as kinda retarded "boy is it fast"
B: He hasn't responded or asked any further questions about anything, the bashing or modding his car
C: He drives a jetta.

You can't just put a boost controller on a VW like that. The boost sensor is part of the ECU and cannot be adjusted in a manner similar to a Nissan or Mitsu. The 'diode mod' is simply placing a resistor on the boost sensor wire so that the ECM does not know what is going on. Unfortunately, the diodes the people speak about using are not variable, so the car will run at a new set level. The two commonly available diodes will result in boost levels of 17-20 psi and +25 psi. Unfortunately, the engine is not designe to handle much more than stock boost.

If you do the DIODE MOD, you must get a BOOST CONTROLER to independently operate the wastegate. Although you will be capable of a hell of a lot of power, you should not push more than an extra 7-10 psi.

If Jetta wants more power via the diode mod, he will also need a fuel pressure regulator. Stock, the fuel injectors are pushing their duty cycle. More pressure = more fuel.

Go to VWVortex, the experts are over there.

Thanks Al for clearing that up. like i stated i don't know VDUBS that well so i just said what most turbo people do. ;) Thank again for clearing that up!

I'd say you should just pull the vacuum line to the wastegate, that will make it awfully fast for a bit.

R32? it is a nice car looks good i would like to have one if i didnt have to pay the cost for it. you have to be a VW lover to buy it man the cost is nuts.
thats alot of money for 14.4's in the quarter.

(this statement does not mean i think the car is crap):banana :wooo

I think he needs to have the Mad Scientist goto work on his car. I heard that there might be a nasty hole in his fuel map, if he gets that fixed he should be in the 9's.

Is this your jetta?

As a VW head myself... I'll try to help you out. What AL said is right about the diode mod but why waste your money fooling the computer when you can go have it APR flashed at either Stay Tuned or Alpine Import Specialists. This way you are safely running a big below your cars maximum on the stock Ko3 turbo.

Second off... what engine code do you have and what year and model class is it? A newer GLS, Wolfsburg or GLI will have the Ko3s turbo which gives you 160hp and 200 tq from the get-go. APR flash will bring you to 210HP and 280 tq at 20 lbs of boost on the stock turbo. This also remaps your fuel and configured the entire car to what you are doing. DO NOT run a blow off valve, you'll run rich as hell, and do not use a manual boost controller.

Also... it's a turbo car, don't get hung up on the idea of a cold air intake... it's a turbo car. Just modify the stock air box (mod can be found on VWvortex.com in the forums help section) or a short ram. With the APR flash your second O2 sensor is null, and you can run a catless downpipe (3" pipe off ebay works like any other pipe with a flange) and not throw a code at all. The downpipe itself will grant you another 2 lbs of boost and in combination of a complete exhaust can gather another 20 hp easily. There are lots of other mods including a n75 race valve (waste gate brain basically).

There's so much to know about those cars and what you can and cannot do. So here's what you can do to save yourself money that could be otherwise spent on something productive. PM me with any questions you have and I'll try to point you in the right direction.

~Ryan
