So last weekend I installed my BBK H pipe. While installing that I notice the "Flowmaster" cat-back that was on the car was a *little* (remember when I say little) hacked so I figured I'd better start looking for a new one.

Wel today I ripped the old one off in preparation for installing the new one. I had no f*ing idea it was this bad!!!! On to the pics....

Muffler outlets: Mufflers are 2.5" in/out......pipe to tail pipes is 2"....tailpipe is 2.25 (yeah...WTF is what I was thinking too).

Here's how they welded the flow pipes into what appear to be the stock tailpipes (going from 2" to 2.25"). Notice the incomplete welds:

And here is where the U-joint was rubbing against the corner of the muffler. Nothing a BFH cant fix. :stare

And I wondered why this car sounded like two pee flaps flapping in the breeze. Now I guess I know why.

Just though I'd share one of my many wonderful experiences in the 4 weeks that I've owned this thing. :thumbsup The more I dig into this thing the more I want to :crying .

What else have you found while digging? Finding other people's hack jobs is not fun and fixing them is even worse! Atleast you found the source of the odd exhaust note.

Honestly? I wouldn't know where to start...lol.
Everytime I touch this thing I find something else that makes me go :wtf

It's all slowing getting fixed though. :alcoholic

If I get bored maybe I'll take some more pics of the stuff I found. :)

I'd be curious if they touched any of the wiring. If you see any electrical tape or non-factory loom (although judging by that exhaust... I'm not sure they would have used loom). An engine fire because of bad wiring would be very bad.

Just an Idea.

just looks like someone's custom type job, with flowmaster mufflars.... fairly common to see it

Yeah...I'm pretty good with wiring (with my car audio experience). From what I've seen so far....Wiring is the least of my worries...lmao.

flowmaster. what ever it takes for that hollow sound.

though I can't rip on em, my GTO is on it's 4th exhaust setup and is wearing flowmasters currently.

What the hell were they thinking, I mean they bolt right up at the inlet pipe and it should be just a simple reducer and 2 clamps then you are done...where did you get that car...juans used car emporium?

Got it from a member on here who only had it for 3-4 weeks. he got it from a friend of his. :)

russ had it for a while, but he didn't do anything to it other than put gas in it and drive it(he attempted to put a gear drive on the cam, but took it off and sold it) the owner before wasn't the brightes bulb on the tree...:goof :goof :durr :alcoholic :alcoholic :alcoholic

None of the problems are Russ' doings. He even fixed a few things before I bought it.



It's all good. I need something to do anyways.
