3 times for 15%
only one ticket by state patrol. They will never let you go for tint from what I understand.

20% is what closely matched factory rear tint on most trucks and SUV's. In other words, it's pretty dark but it does look really nice. 35% looks good too, will do the trick, and maybe keep you from getting pulled over. 50% on the front windows is supposed to be legal but it's also hardly worth it.

No examples though, sorry.

This place said 35% is the legal limit i guess, i seen some pics of 35% and it looks plenty dark, i dont want it BLACK either... so i think im gonna go 35% also for the reason of cops LOL

DirtyMax

Good choice. It'll look darker because it's going on a bright red car too. :thumbsup

35% is legal on a rear passenger windows and back window only. 50% is legal on front side windows, and you can tint down to the a-21 line on the windshield with 35% I think. Keep in mind all new cars with air conditioning have some tint to them, so even in putting 50% film on you'll still be "illegal" as far as the tint meter. I have heard you can get a doctors prescription for tint, but I don't know the specifics of it.

Dating the daughter of a state trooper has it's benefits as far as having someone to ask about the laws.

I think you'll be happy with 35 tom.

35% I think is perfect for cars, any darker and it gets hard to see out the windows in the dark. I had the windshied done on my TA at 50% and that is great. Not legal, but it is nice during the day, you don't really need sunglasses, and it is sweet at night too, you can still see out just fine and it turns those stupid HID's into two little dots on the windshield instead of ultra glare like usuall

On a side note, sunbusters does a great job, They just did my whole house last week. Huge difference in cooling. Air conditioner never runs anymore. I can't wait to see how well it works in the winter.

Have you thought about a strip on the windshield? That is only a few more bucks and looks great. There's lines on the windshield that tell you exactly what the legal height its.

Either the whole windshield at 75-50% or no windshied in my opinion, I hate the "strip"

IMO if you dont want flak for tint, dont get it. It is another reason for WAPD to give you ****.
I have not had any issues with my truck, and i have 20% all windows except windshield.

Thanks for the input guys! 35% will get the job done...

Ive seen sunbusters work before and was impressed with their attention to detail on several cars and that they are easy to deal with on repairs and such too...

My factory tint is 15% all the way around except for the front windows. I just had my front's done a couple months back to match, and have had no problems. I can see fine out my windows at night, but I have been known to have good nightvision.

Then again...I do live in Menomonee Falls and don't cruise and don't have a car that attracts attention.

I got a ticket with 35% on the front two windows by MFPD and had to have it removed and 50% put on... 35% is good for rear windows in normal motor vehicles, and 5% can be used in far back windows in SUVs... This is all from the manual that the MFPD officer pulled out when checking my windows... Also remember that windows are "solar tinted" from the factory. So it's actually a lower percent than the percent they're telling you they're putting on... In essence my 50% ended up being 39.2% on the reader with the factory solar tint... Just remember to take that into condieration. And cops are getting alot worse about it too!

Here's my old Mustang with 20% on the side and back windows. It was kinda hard to see out at night IMO. When turning left, at night, I needed to roll down the window to check for pedestrians in the crosswalk.

I took my car to Ziebart, it cost $150 4 years ago to get 'em tinted and it's got a lifetime warranty... And when I needed to change from 35% to 50% they only charged me removal costs, which was $30...

I'd ask the tinters what they think, or they can actually test it to see what it is. The guys up at Blackout knew that mine was 15% (an employee had a Blazer). Mine matches perfect.

Llumar Centaur film, 28% sides and rear. Done by Kartunes about 4 years ago. The perfect compromise between the "too light" 35%, and the "ticket-getter" 20% .

I had 20% tint on the GTP Tom... the only time I ever got fvcked with for tint, was when you were with me down on Hwy....

There were times I felt it seemed pretty dark. And other times, mostly during the day, when I felt it wasnt dark enough. Although, having had a car with 5% tint on it, makes 20% seem more like 50%. I think 20% is what I'll be putting on the Camaro in the coming weeks.

Word of warning - since they changed the law my new experience been that they are all over cracking down on it. Within a few months of buying my Caddy which had 25-35% or so tint when they measured it, I was stopped TWICE on the freeway. Just drove by parked sheriffs and they pulled out and stopped me having seen it go by at 75 mph.

Rollin' in a Caddy with tinted windows is almost a given that you'll get pulled over anyways... LMAO! They're probably pulling you over expecting to find some dude with gold teeth and a bag of crack. Instead, they walk up to the car and see YOU, and have to resort to checking your window tint. LOL!

my stang was strictly a weekend car. only reason I had 5%. I had trouble a lil seeing out at night. from the back window, all I saw were dim headlights, couldnt even see a car. didnt have a problem seeing pedestrians, I always had my windows cracked a lil in cold weather, or all the way down on nice days. to me, a dark tint is very sharp looking. it can make any car look good. just my taste.

I have my sides tinted at 20% and my rear hatch at either 5% or 8%..can't remember. I had it done back in 2000 at a place in Green Bay. I have only had one State Trooper say anything to me. He pulled me over for no front plate and then told me that the tint on my hatch is too dark as he couldn't read my drivers license through it. No written warnings or tickets though. Although I almost always drive with my windows down, and if they happen to be up when I get pulled over I -ALWAYS- put them down before the cop walks up to the car.

My father had 35% put on his pontiac bonnaville gxp and in my opion it is way too light. I told him to do 20% but the shop in occon told him 35% would look dark enough. He is very dissatisfied and tried to get it redone but they would not. MAKE sure you look at cars at different tint shades before you decide.
