In the sky just after midnight, did you see it?

I was sitting outside with my woman last night just chillin' enjoying some Grey Goose, when a very bright flash of light lit up the sky like lightening. I looked up and in the sky, saw a trail of orange and a ball of orange at the end of it, which slowly dissappeared. It looked as if a object entered the atmosphere, then blew up! My woman saw it too, so I know I don't have a tumor or something :goof

Did you guys see this too? It happened sometime between 12:32 am and 12:38 am. I've seen many shooting stars, but NOTHING like what we saw. It was pretty freakin' cool.

What you saw was one of the import cars from highway. He apparently hit his NOS button attempting to jump a bridge. The size of the wing and the aerodynamics of his bodykit caused his vehicle to continue into the sky.

Now, if you look into the little red light, you should find the answer to anyother questions you have.

Prolly just a larger than normal asteroid or whatever. If I remeber from science class correctly they hit the atmospher all the time but most are so small we dont even notice them.

Or it could be north korea launching more rockets? :durr

Fireballs are a great thing to watch. I remember back in the early 90's watching one go from horizon to horizon back in Iowa

Yeah, very similar. But, when this one I saw flashed, it stopped and that was it... well it did leave that cool orange trail.

Oh, it had nothing to do with the Goose! My woman wasn't drinkin', so I know I wasn't seeing things. :) Although, I think she slipped me a roofie. :D

Nah, I don't think that has anything to do with it. I've been out for the Perseid max, and those are tiny little streaks that last just a fraction of a second, all more or less located in one section of the sky.

I've been lucky enough in my life to witness about 5 such occurrences as Mat73GNZ, and they are really something to see. Nothing as large or spectacular as that video recorded in Texas, but pretty neat in their own right. The brightest and longest one I've ever seen was about 10 years ago, I saw one flash from South to North while driving Northbound on 76th St. between Rawson ave. and Southridge Mall. I caught it out of the corner of my eye and I turned and watched for for a few seconds. I damned near drove off the road. It was neat enough that it might have been worth it if I had...:shades

i saw something like it on friday evening around 930-10pm. My friend looked to me and said "whoa bid meteor huh?" lol

The last 'big' one I saw was in jan/feb of 05. I was following NN from five corners to west bend and I was at the point where it heads due west. To the west, about 5 degrees south of the my direction, I saw was blueish-white and had a very short tail. It kept going down and became two pieces before it hit the horizon.

I lated did a check on one of those internet meteor registry pages and found out that people in Waukeshaw and Fond du Lac saw it too. Judging by the different directions we saw it from, it landed west of madison.
