Does any regular parts store carry these? Dumb question I guess but I'm going to need some by this weekend, just want to know where I can get them(I ASSume Autozone, etc. has them). Thanks.

You shoulda posted this last week.:goof I just bought the whole conversion kit for $33 in OH with 3 cans of 134a. But it's in the wagon now. I need to top it off a bit though, not quite enough came in the kit.

I would think AZ would have them, but I don't know if you have to be licensed to buy anything or just the refrigerent

When I went down to IL I forgot to ask....hell, should have asked about a conversion kit too.

I know Fleet Farm used to sell the kit, probably still do.

I posted in the other A/C thread in the technical forum... But anyways, Wisconsin lifted the ban on R134a. I dont know if its temporary, or if its only until like December 6th or something... but you can buy the whole refill/conversion kit from Advanced Auto Parts locally. I just bought the kit for $40 last week. Comes with the fittings, and 3 cans/gauge/etc.

I still have the R12 to R134a Conversion fittings if you want them. My car was already R134a, so I dont need them.

Let me know

Brian

Was just going to post the same information....

Went to Advance tonight, looking for fittings...guy says they don't carry any but they do have R-134a.....WTF? :D

Guess the ban was lifted July 10th and is temporary until December 8th, might be permanent but from what he said, DuPont was suing Wisconsin which helped lift the ban. Saves a trip to IL I guess :).

Not sure if the monte is the same but my kit came with 3 cans but needed a bit more, so make sure you have enough. :thumbsup
With R-12 it was 3.2lbs, and the kit said 134a needs 85% which is like 43.5oz and I got 3 12oz cans.:( But taken care of now:banana1:

Good info. I plan to stock up a little bit in case the ban comes back after this year.

Actually I'll be filling up the Buick first, since its A/C is all intact and hopefully ready to go with a re-charge :). Then my dads 93' LeSabre since he is all about the A/C and his went out this year.....then I'll get to my LS which I'm finally putting the A/C setup back together, although it needs a few more items and wiring :goof .

Had I known about the ban dropping I would have had a/c in my car earlier:rolf

Thanks for the offer, I got the A/C all working in my LeSabre today :D. Had it checked over whether or not any R-12 was left and also some dye added. Checked over the fuse, relay and noticed the compressor wouldn't kick in either. Filled it up a bit, jumped the pressure switch and it kicked in. Then proceeded to fill up to about 35-40 psi and the A/C works like a dream :).
