Just did a search on Autotrader and I had to double check the years I put in.

not sure if the link will work
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?mod_bookmark_id=null&advanced=&bkms=1153956789112&num_records=&certified=&isp=y&search=y&lang=en&search_type=used&make=PONT&model=TRANSAM&start_year=1985&end_year=1992&min_price=&max_price=&distance=200&address=53150&x=95&y=8

If not I searched with 100 miles of 53150 for 85-92 Trans Ams.

I was considering putting the TA up for sale and wanted to see what the market was like locally. If these cars actually sell for what they are asking, I'd be a fool not to sell.

:wow

I am sure a lot of cars on Autotrader do not sell. Most of the sellers are way high on pricing. A realistic price is what cars are going for on Ebay.

unfortunately Ebay seems to have more junk then anything else though.

Last year I called a dealer that had an 88 TA for sale 305 tpi auto wanted $9k for it.I laughed and hung up the phone

Renner Mitsubishi had or maybe still has an 85 TA on their lot that they were asking $8995. It was a total pile of crap that they obviously gave to high trade in for. It had severe rusting problems behind the gfx, cause they were all bubble out. Even at the "sale" price of $4995 it was about $4K high.

I sold my '89 Formula 350 last year for $7K with 93K miles, but this was a super clean, excessively cared for and nicely modded car.

Gee where to start.

Chassis itself has @ 135,000 mile on it. I say chassis cause there isn't much original on the car anymore. Paint and Body was done in 1999. Replaced both front fenders, drivers door, front bumper, most the gfx, added the ASCD Ram Air Hood and Z28 spoiler. Had the antenna hole filled.

I've put just over 4500 miles on it since then.

The engine was just redone last spring. Maybe 1200 miles on it from Power Tour last year. Engine is a 350 crate GM crate motor. Roller block with a 1 pc rear main. Had it bored .030 over. fitted with TRW forged pistons. Approx 9.75:1.
Dart Pro 1 heads. 215cc runners 64cc chambers. 2.02/1.60 valves
Cam Motion custom ground cam. 227/232 dur, .524/.529 lift.
Comp Cams Pro Mag 1.5 roller rockers
Edelbrock RPM Airgap intake
Demon 650 double pumper carb
March pullies
March brackets
SLP 1 3/4" headers, into a 3" y pipe, thru SLP exhaust
Summit Radiator
Flex-A-Lite dual 12" fans
T-5 trans purchased newly rebuilt from Trans Gear in TX in April 04.
Spec Stage 1 clutch
4th gen aluminum driveshaft
Aussie 9bolt rear, 3.70 gears
Baer Track kit in front., 13" rotors
Baer Touring kit in rear, 12" rotors
All new stainless steel brakes lines from Classic Tube
Tokico Illumina adjustable shocks and struts
Tokico drop springs
Entire suspension is P-S-T polyurethane bushings
PST front sway bar
TDS Wonderbar
Front end all rebuilt with Moog Tie Rods, Center link, etc. Edelbrock tie rod links
Brand new steering box.
Flaming river steering shaft
17" Ws6 wheels, with Bridgestone Potenza 275/40/17 rear, 255/40/17 front
Edelbrock Panhard bar and Alston lower control arms

Interior has
new carpet, headliner
Seats are from a 96 Z28
Gauges are all Auto Meter Ultra-Lites
Kenwood CD/MP3 deck
Kenwood 10 gig Music Keg
MTX 5 channel amp
Infinity Reference 4x6
Pioneer 3 way 6x9
Kicker 10" L5 sub
Grant steering wheel

Theres probably alot more I'm missing. I've got somewhere around $32K into the damn thing. So I'm asking around 32,500. Gotta make my profit like on TV. lol

Seriously though I'm going to be asking somewhere around 15k. Which might be high for thirdgen money. Guess I'll see.

Actually I'm going to hold onto thru the winter. I really always wanted to see it at World of Wheels, and usually I have it torn apart during the winter. But it's finally done, and I'd like to see it there first.

my mac tool guy has three thirdgens, he's trying to sell them all.

one was a front end lightly wrecked '87 350/t-top IROC and he wanted 4k, lol

one was a '89 IROC 305 TPI/T-5 really nice and he wants 7k
and a '88 IROC 305 TPI/T-5, in better shape and he wants 9k

hello I bought my TA for 2k, and for 5k would blow his out of the water big time.

values are going up, but people are still nuts, nonetheless

Not with this combo. I'll take it out this fall once the weather is cooler.

thanks. It's probably out of a lot of peoples price range. lol

$15K is high, but a car that nice is worth it. Hey, even questionable 2nd gen T/A's go for $7-10K and they made 117,000 of them in 1979!

All it takes is one person to fall in love with it. :Hump

That;s what I'm banking on. And I'm hoping when the time comes I can find someone NOT around here that wants it. I think seeing it again will crush me. Especially if someone wraps it around a tree or something.

Very nice TA Karp, I've seen it around and at shows, definately one of the nicest 3rd gens around!

My parents next door neighbor has a 89' Camaro RS that he wants $6,500 for. 305 TBI car, 5 speed hardtop. Red and all stock....60k miles or so(driven only one winter I think) and in cherry shape but hes way out of line in the price, IMO.

Very clean thirdgens are hard to find. Amazing how many of them are either rust buckets, trailer park modded, beat up or just tired.

The other side is the garage queens with super low miles that people want huge bucks for.

for that reason I'm trying to remind myself that I should try to save my TA from becoming just a beater.
