Thanks

Check out the classified section at www.nasioc.com

Not dealerships, but you can find some decent vehicles there.

I need to trade in my 02 trailblazer to afford the STI so I would much rather find one at a lot. Thanks for the advice though.

Sommer's in Mequon might have a blue one still. I think it was an 05 with 35K on the ticker....other than that though, they aren't on used lots around here

Two in Illinois, but for the money, why not buy new? Check dealer for specials, when I got mine they offered 4.9% interest.

thanks for the help. I have seen them at the stealerships before. I was kinda hoping for the low low mile couldn't afford it and had to take it back 2000 mi car for 5k less then new sti. I will probably buy a 06 when the new 07s come out and everyone is fighting for the limited. Or if the limited is reasonable and I can get good financing I will go that route.

From what I understand about the limit STi is that if you do not preorder it, you are going to need to wait for a used one. Apparently alot of dealerships will not get any, unless they have preorders.

Rick

HP ADDICT
07-21-2006, 09:49 PM
yeah I have heard that also. I do think they will have a hard time getting all the cars sold preorder though as pricing is not even released yet. I have heard of some dealers charging as much as 13% above invoice. That is crazy for a wrx trunk and outback xt limited seats. I will not even consider it for more then a normal sti. What the hell is up with the missing 7hp and tq on the limiteds?

The new SAE rating system is what is up.

Looks like I may be buying new. Anyone negotiate one under invoice? Rick any thing I should look for as far as options go etc? 05 vs 06 vs 07? Thanks again.

Well, the 06's handle better then the 05's and 04's, not by ALOT, but they do handle better. 06 on up has plasitc engine mounts which have been breaking recently. Rumor mill is that Subaru did that so they can claim abuse on blown trannies and engines a bit easier. The only thing I know about the 07's is basically about the Limited (which you know about already). Personally, it really comes down to appearence in my opinion. You should get a better deal on a new 05, if there are any on the lot, vs a new 06. I have dealt with a guy by the name of Edsel Perez over at Sommer's in the past. He is a good guy, did not know much about the cars, but he was a good guy and was straight forward. Though, I am not sure if he is still there or not.

Optionwise, there really is not alot out there from the factory. I got mine with the Auto dimming compase mirrors, Short Shifter (which is almost standard on 05's), and wheel locks. Personally, they all were near pointless, but were equipped on the car they had on the lot at the time.

Frankly, I would try to get one with as few options as possible, and save some cash for other odds and ends.

Do you have any plans for it, or just going to keep it stock? If modifing, for what? Drag, AutoX, Street?

The short throw is worth it though otherwise it feels like driving a dodge truck with the 6 speed.

why do you want pics? Looks like the one on the top of the screen half the time with the 06 grill. I will give you a ride in it though! Thanks for everyones help. I ended up buying one new with Subarus financing being pretty damn good and for once not excluding the STIs. I did opt for one with the short throw shifter. Whats sad is that its my SLOW car.

i got the short throw in my 06. I like it, Only thing that I still want to get is the extended arm rest to raise it up and the review mirror with compass and homelink. but oh well. Enjoy the car.

HP ADDICT
08-02-2006, 02:21 PM
I looked at 2 one without the short throw and with the armrest, the second with the short throw, compass etc. The arm rest WILL piss you off when your arm hits it everytime you shift. Imagine a 5 inch box on the armrest you currently have and look where your arm is on the 1-2 and 3-4 shift. Youll be glad you didnt get it. Do you have any mods to yours yet?

He doesn't work there anymore. He was a cool guy though.

I'm a lot boy at Sommers. We don't have a used STI, but we have a few new ones. We just got a black 05 WRX with a wing and a few other mods.

Im still a noob to the STI talk. I was thinking TBE was throttle body elbow...well I know now. Rick that would be really cool to get a ride in a built sti sometime. Let me know if you are going to be out. I live in Milwaukee right off hwy 100.

Anytime, though, I try to generally stay away from the Hwy this time of year. I can work something out though.

Stage 2 refers to the Cobb Access Port programmer (http://cobbtuning.com/sti/accessport.html). It Comes with Stage 1 and 2 maps for 91 & 93 octane. And thats it!

In order to run the stage 2 fuel map you need at minimun an aftermarket downpipe, but I went with the APS 3" Turbo-Back Exhaust.

I also have the K&N Short ram Typhoon intake, it's very similar to the SPT intake that subaru sells.

In the fine print of creating the fuel maps, Cobb tuned the maps so a person could run "Their" intake along with stage 1 or 2. They also tuned them for lighter pulleys as well, but all in all they are tuned richly so they could be safe. People have picked up an extra 40hp on fine tuning these maps even more by using their software. there is a place in chi-town that does dyno tuning on these maps.
