Lock Noss Monster Performance!!!
(had to!)
Starting up a shop in the area is a big gamble. What kind of experience and training does your friend have? If he is not a professional already, I would reccomend that he does not pursue such an investment. When it comes to machining and true engine building, it seems that only a few shops have stood the test of time.

Well then...
How about 'I Don't Need To Prove Myself Performance'?
Or 'Household Name Performance'?
Hell, if he is so well known he doesn't even really need a name.
Work with me on this...
Just a white building that says 'Garage' in black letters.
Each week a white cube would park out front that says 'truck' on the side and unload boxes that just say 'parts'.
It worked for No-Name Steaks.
I think...

So, who is he?

Don't diss Roy, he was a decent guy. Some of the kids that hung around were the issue there.

Rick's Auto Shop.
Keep it simple, add no ego through some 'impressive' and 'obnoxious' name. This will keep the fart-can brigade away from you while you make your attempt at building a reputation.
