I have been searching all over the internet looking for an exhaust manifold for my 1987 Integra RS. The engine is a D16, which is also found in some civics and crxs.

I've assumed that the header probably does not exist for the car, so I have been considering a custom header. I bet bee can make one, but I posted this instead of PMing him so I can get some extra input.

In addition to the header, I think I would also like the exhaust to exit on the right side of the car. There are a few reasons for this:

-it would make the car quieter inside because the opening would not be right under me.
-it would point my exhaust away from the noise booth at the silo at BFR.

One other thing:
I'd like to have the head and manifold port matched.

def talk to Bee his manifold fabrication is top notch

is it a DOHC D16??? i would think any Dseries header would work?? i could be wrong though......... i know that the DOHC D16 in the old school teggy's is basicly a crappy US version of the ZC... but i know the ZC can use a Dseries header but it has to be ported on the left side of the header cuz it doesnt match perfectly....

Would a ZC head fit on a D16?

nope..... ZC's are odd motors......... id ask Bee or someone on Honda-Tech.com

First off, I just want to be sure that I do not go outside of the ITA rules as specified by the MCSCC (cheating), but I have heard so many people speak about doing such swaps for more power.

I did some searching on Wikipedia to see what information it had on Honda engines. There, I found some surprizing tech info about almost all honda/acura engines.

There were quite a few D series engines, but most of the more powerful ones were VTEC or European.

Of the more powerful DOHC non vtec D16s are the D16A8 and D16A9. Unfortunately, these are only available in the UK. At that, the power differences are very slight and they have slightly different compression ratios. Also, the data does not include info about the exhaust manifold and intake setup, which can result in different more or less power.

-----
I'm wondering about raising the comp ratio on the car if I have head work done because there are many other ITA people who have done the same.

I'm keeping that gold scirocco in mind because he claimed that he made over 180hp, which seems rather high for an ITA car.

It has a D16A1. The ZC parts are not (very) compatible with the A1.

I will give you a call soon.

a dohc d16 is a JDM ZC or an old school teggy motor...... the teggy motor is basicly a ZC but just not as good...... and the ugly brown valve cover

Well the ZC and B parts are not goiing to work the way I want them to.

The best thing to do IMO is to have a custom 4-into-1 header fabbed up and match the manifold flange to the head as the GCR mandates. This leaves a fair amount of room for improvement as all of the other ITA people have discovered.

Hey Bee, I tried giving you a call, but it might have been too early in the morning. Also, did you move to Milwaukee? Your site says so, but I thought you were in Madison.

Those are turbo manifolds or civic manifolds.

civic does not equal integra.

I'm looking for a true race manifold for my car and an exhaust exit on the right side.

Well, I just finished at RA and I'm getting blown away by the ITB and some C cars. I'll take the exhaust manifold off tomorrow so that I can mill the flanges for it.

Old manifold off!

The inside of this thing is SAD.

Time for an improvement!
