Had to rip off my Caddy's window tint today, since I continue to be PROFILED by police who think I'm on my way to beat my 'hoes or pick up a dime bag or something. I've been pulled over 4 times in the few months I've owned the car...twice on the expressway...for window tint...apparently it looked really dark as I blew by at 65 mph.

Anyway the tint left some gluey reside that doesnt seem to want to come off. Anyone know what I can use to remove it easily?

ammonia or acetone

regular (blue) Windex has lots of ammonia in it

Walmart has a "Gila Window Tint Adhesive Remover" by the window tint in the automotive section. That and a razor blade work the best for me.

I soaked mine real good with Windex, then used a razor blade to scrape it off. Looks good, no scratches either. :thumbsup

I've also heard oven cleaner can do it... never tried it myself tho.

use a steamer. put it up to the glass on the inside to heat up the film and it comes right off in one piece.

Goo Gone may work.

I remember when State patrol pulled me over.

I was doing an honest 65-70 among 7 other cars when I went past his speed trap on I43 (coming from East Troy). Pulls out, zig zags between every car and pulls me over, for friggen tint!

I had a bit of fun with him when I asked why he only tests the outside-in and and not the inside-out as I agrued my visibilty is no more impaired than a pair of quality singlasses would offer. His words fumbled through something that made no sense as I already knew he wouldnt have a good explaination.

I paid my $167 bucks to the state and kept my tint out of principal.

You have to be careful with the razor blade on the rear window. Most rear defrosters have lines on the inside of the window, and a razor blade will scrapoe them right off. I remember using a foaming cleaner and a garbage bag. Spray the cleaner on the inside of the window, and stick the black garbage bag inside teh window. Then bake in the sun all day and all the glue will come right off. I'll see if I can find out what cleaner was used.

Rear widow tint can be removed pretty easy by using the tint remover and a black garbage bag tape to the inside of the window while the car is parked in the sunit kinda soaks and steams it off without damaging the defroster lines, just remember to keep soaking it with the tint remover or windex with ammonia

I would think 36 grit on a 9" grinder would take it right off.....Stop by some time and I'll give you a hand.......:)

glass cleaner and a razor blade..

Use a lot of glass cleaner and get some composite razorblades from ace 50 for like $5. It is like really fine edged plastic blade. It is a lot safer to use on glass then the metal ones.
