Here is my new AMS built 521 CID engine going into my street / strip 1966 Mercury Comet Capri.

It's a stroker 460 Ford combo that is really set up to "run the streets"....This car WILL see PLENTY of street use.

The motor is just waiting for its turn on the AMS dyno for the break in and tuning and then it's off to LA Welding to be fitted to the chassis!

I'm a "Old School" type, I love those big "all motor" combos.

Can't wait to get this thing out and see what it can do, we will also see if BOSS LX can get her down the track faster than me!:banana1:

We are going with a built up Turbo 400 with a trans brake and Neal Chance Converter.

I really dig that new Hurst pistol grip shifter that Andy has in his Stang, I think I will run the same thing in the Comet?:headbang

Thanks guys!:banana1:

I have some specs of the 521.....

13.5 to 1 JE pistons that were custom made for the A-460 Trick Flow heads.

Comp Cams Solid Roller .725 lift with 275 @ 0.50 duration

Trick Flow A-460 intake with plenum work done to blend from carb mount pad to intake port.

1150 BRE carb www.bookracing.com it was set up to this engines specs, Book has some very famous carb customers including Warren Johnsons Pro Stock.

The TFS heads have a 340 CC intake and flow well into the 400 CFM range @ .800 lift.

Moroso Stage II drag race oil pan

Like I said I'm STILL waiting for the dyno test ( the engine has been ready for dyno since early May ) to tune her in and really take advantage of the parts.

I run Rockett 111 race fuel..

It was made for the streets, of course I will race the car at "The Grove" but, cruising around the streets is where the car will most be seen.

That's a very nice looking big block Mopar in the background behind that huge Ford boat anchor!

LOL - Tom is that you? If so shoot me a PM, I am indeed "Jim from Electromotive" from back in the day!

I knew that Mopar Jim was the same Jim I worked with !!

Jim, once I get the 521 Comet out and about I will take you cruise around in it if you want?

Here is the car as it sits now, this clip was shot a while back.

Lots of changes will be needed to make the 521 work in this chassis.

I can only post one picture here, the space limit is exceeded with any more pics.

I was down at the fab shop today going over some of the build details on the car.

I will take pics as the 521 goes in.

Lotsa thinking to do to make sure I buy the right parts the first time.

I did get the story from Jim about the Fury's death...... I felt pretty bad when that car got killed like that.

I think I have some pics of that car with a 6 pack on it.

I don't know a lot about the Hemi at AMS but, I do know it's a 10.5 to 1 motor that they are looking for 750 FWHP from....I will be taking a video and pictures of my 521 on "dyno day"...........

I also have to see if BOSS LX can give me a hand with bringing the 521 down to the chassis / fab shop.......

Stay tuned for the dyno run numbers and video clip !!!:banana1:

I was down at LA Welding talking with Skeeter and his says he will not be happy until the Comet is "standing on the rear bumper" at his open house show??:banana

I really love that open house car show he puts on and I know Bobbie and Andy do too !!

Picked up a TH 400 core for the build from a guy I work with. I'm going with a JW UltraBell (BBF 460 to TH 400) and we are going to build the trans with all the upgrades into it.

I was going to "foot brake" it but, Skeeter talked me into a trans brake for it.......Neal Chance will build the converter..........

Here are the pistons we used in the 521 build.

They were custom order JE pistons to work with TRICK FLOW A-460 heads.

They have a compression ratio of 13.5 to 1 in a 91 CC chamber.

Thanks for the :thumbsup guys!

I can't wait to be roaming the streets around here as soon as shes done !

I'm going to be cruising the car most on the weekends, I will go to some of the local car shows too.

I'm not even sure of all the cruise - ins and good car shows there are anymore around here since I have not been doing any of that stuff as much as I used to.

We are going with "pro gears" for the rear so 20 mile trips is all I can do before the rear gears need to cool down but, I will have a big fuel cell for the Rockett 111 so I should be able to stay out most of the day without a re-fuel....:shades

Here is a picture of the car "pre-521".........

The heads will take .850 lift but, since I wanted it to be a street car we went with lower lift to be easy on parts........

I also went with a 4.300 stroke to go easy on the rings and pistons as the 4.500 stroke engines really "rock the rings out".......

I could have made a lot more power with these heads ( 1000 HP N/A with more cubes and cam ) but, the street driven issue would have really suffered too much so we focused on street driving more than all out HP.......
