Hey all,

I need to buy a Carb for my Grand Prix. I want to get the Edelbrock Thunder series model 1806.. Anyone know of a good place local to Milwaukee to order/buy one.

***EDIT*** It doesn't actually need to be a speed shop, If someone knows someplace I can get a halfway decent deal on this carb let me know.

Thanks,

Tom

crazy question, but why an edelbrock carb?

Well, I have a Holley now, And I can't seem to get it to run right to save my life when it is cold. I have taken it to multiple different shops and no one can get the choke set right. When I start it cold it runs very rough and it blows alot of unburned fuel(smoke) out the tailpipes. The holley is brand new probably about 200 miles on it and is actually the 2nd Holley I bought and both did the same thing, but i don't know what else I can do but replace it with a different type of Carb. I just don't wanna spend more money attempting to tune this Holley when it will end up costing as much as a new carb again.

electric choke?

Whoops, I suppose that would be important... Yes it is an electric choke 750 cfm vacuum secondaries....

And actually the carb has been re-jetted and a new powervalve was installed because the car had a really bad stumble when the carb was brand new.

If there are any carb guys out there that might be able to take a look at it send me a PM. I'll be honest I don't wanna put a ton of money into the carb if its not gonna work how I want it too, but I will pay to have it looked at.

Thanks Again,

Tom

call C&S Performance at 262-781-0469 they are located in Butler WI. Which is in between Capital Drive and Hampton on 124th st. Ask for clint. Just give him the edelbrock part number you want. He can get most parts the next day. call between 10 - 5.

if you want, you can come here and dyno tune the pontiac. There guys that tune on the dyno here are good at what they do. Carbs especially since thats usually the only thing the cars here have...

Check out the shops webcam while youre at it!

I have been actually wanting to dyno the car and to tune everything in the process would be that much better. How do i set that up should I ask for anyone in particular. And approximately how much does something like that cost.

Thanks, Tom

How big of an engine do you have to require a 750?

Well, I don't really know the "correct" answer but most of the catalogs say a 750 is good for some built-up small blocks and "most" big blocks..whatever that means... I have had people tell me I should have put a 650 at the most on my car and others have said the 750 is my best bet and my car has a 428 cubic inch big block.

What does juicedimpSS conclude the problem to be?

its a cold start issue, most likely just a choke setting. he claims it runs out well once its warm.

What Juicedimpss said...

Oh and by the way I owe you a few beers I think it is basically fixed. No more smoke on cold start...:thumbsup
