Is the new Shelby Cobra out yet?

I saw a new body Mustang near Elmbrook hospital, had the stripes on it and I noticed when it passed me it had the Snake emblems on it. Problem was is that it was dead quiet?? Are these cars even out yet?

^^^^ I don't think that's a production Shelby. If it wass, theat guy needs to be beat for taking one of the most desireable muscle cars to come out in like 30 years, and throw a body kit on it.

This is what a real production one looks like and I don't believe they're hitting the streets yet... People are selling their orders for 75K on ebay (yes, that's right... just the priveledge to assume their order) PLUS the price of the car (another 45K)

Yeah, I didn't say I didn't like the kit but to alter a rare collectible car like the GT500 to that extent would be plain foolish.

I agree with you to a extent, but to each his own, they paid for it, they can do whatever they want to make it suitable to them. From a collector standpoint it may seem stupid but to someone that is gonna drive it for a few years then sell it, it may make perfect sense. I personally think the production and the one at the show look slick, but the fake one looks way better. Anyone see the stang they buit on overhaulin last night? That thing was sick!!!!

Pretty sure they don't start delivering them til mid this month and later. Hiller Ford said they won't have one on the lot until August.

Well that's exactly the one I saw... Stripes, GT500 on the side, the imprinted COBRA rear bumper, blah blah etc.
Saw it a few weeks ago at least.

Besson Autobody built this car for a customer that has way too much money. He paid 10 grand for that body kit :rolf

"Here's a few tidbits I learned today regarding the soon-to-come GT500:

Car is currently on schedule for a Job1 date between 6/6-6/26. Cars should start arriving at dealers in late summer.

The Hertz Version is NOT a Shelby but an upgraded GT only.

Rated HP will be published in the order guides as 485 @ 6000 rpm and 475 lb ft torque @ 3750 rpm. They also said that the car is being tested at a higher HP that will be published in the brochure but they would not reveal it until it is finalized.

The Ford corporate is trying very hard to get first year production numbers to 10,000 units which will be distributed across the board to all qualifying dealers.

The car will have a programmable tach. Can program shift points.

My color gauges are standard, however, when you start car the guages will light up red, white, and blue.

Cars will be delivered to dealers with a "valet" engine calibration to cut down on hot rodding at the plant or en route to the dealer. Dealer will disable while performing PDI.

At least one local dealer has an allocation for 3 cars.

I agree. Mine is one of only 3768 coupes produced in '04 and one of only 299 in Screaming Yellow.

The new Shelby GT500 is also extremely heavy (3930lbs - coupe ~ 4040lbs - convertible) empty and even though it makes 500hp, according to Car and Driver's recent test (July '06), it is no faster than the '03/'04 Cobras, due to it's extra tonnage.

Actually, I think it's made out of depleted uranium. If we go to war with Iran, the US is going to round up all of these Shelby's and drop them on Iran's nuclear reactors. With all that weight, it should smash through the concrete cooling towers with ease.

I was just in Las Vegas last week and Hertz (car rental place) had several shelbys for rental. They were black and gold, they also had a "Hertz) badge on the sides of the front fenders, no clue why but they were Shelbys and also had hood pins? They were all brand new.
