Tell them you are picking up your boat today in perfect working condition, with said problem repaired and that you won't be bringing the boat back for any other service

Calm down... I used to be one of these techs you would get on the phone at an OEM. Usually the dealer isn't the problem, its the customer.

The first sign of this is a customer that is beligerant and making threats. Most that honestly have nothing to do with the issue at hand are calm and patient.

Im 100 % the dealer is probably trying to cover his ass and make sure its solved before he sends it out the door. Just like any GOOD dealer. Sounds like he was simply trying to buy time.

Well Mercury will probably tell you this.... TAKE IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER IF YOU THINK YOUR BEING TREATED UNFAIRLY. Other wise stay off the dealer's back, you are only going to make things worse if you going in there swinging your two inches of fear around like no other trying scare people, and make legal threats... they will tell you " go ahead, make my day asshole".

Your one of those guys that calls every hour on the hour asking " Is my boat done yet?" arent you?

I have a feeling you will be asked not to bring it back to them in the future, and they have every right to.

No, i gave Mike (the owner) a heads up, he knows that he is meeting me there. Im so sick of this crap, i would be less mad if they would have just been honest and told me that they didnt get to it yet and they will do what they can to get it finnished. I hate being lied to.

After spending 3 years in Tecumseh's tech service dept as a service coordinator... you heard just about every story out there its gets quite wierysome.

I guess reading this set me off like fireworks to a vietnam vet or something, and relive visions of customers trying to blame dealers or make them look bad etc... i was ruthless on warranty cases and very cold hahahah if you cant tell, Its buisness.

FYI; The rep may side with the dealer though, they do make him money.

If the head doesnt talk to the ass, the owner dude may not know the whole story. Im skeptical about calling him a liar just yet.

Let the rep iron this out, thats his job.

Dealers regulary screw customers on a daily.

ALL OF THEM!!! Car, boat ETC.

Take it somewhere else of you can, and tell every other boater you know/meet how $hitty this place is.

Bad rep can spread quickly in this small city if you do it right.

That will hurt them the most.

By posting this you took the first step. Bad press / customer satisfaction issues fly fast on the internet.

Is there anyway to give it back?

If not go to a different dealer.

Make a big sign that says this dealer suck and why and stand with it in front of the dealer:rolf

Hrmmm I'm glad I can't say this about the marine dealership we take our boat to... They do EXCELLENT work... But you know, it's just a lowly '01 Natique with a 502... :rolf Nothing different about that one than other boats in the Natique family... :rolf Oh, besides the shoehorn used to put the engine in :thumbsup

tony i feel for ya bro! i've been in the exact situation but with a car. it seems like alot of dealerships take your money right away and wine and dine ya when you're ready to purchase something. but when you have a problem, they just throw ya off to the side. now if you wanted to buy something else you would be first in line!

Sorry to hear what's happening Tony. I know it was throwing some weird code at me when i was driving and you mentioned something about it was supposed to be fixed.

Also, a regional manager can cut off a dealer at the balls with a snap of a finger. I've watched it happen many times with dealers trying to sell products out of their territory, bad service, etc. I can't say that is true with all fields...but like I said, I've watched it happen in my business, and its pretty funny.

He's got the right idea!

In regards to teh dealership stuff, well, it's a profit driven business. Don't want to give in to the profit, don't have your car serviced by a dealer and don't buy a car you can't fix :) See, SIMPLE fix to screw those dealership folk ;)

So what happened today when you went down there this afternoon?? If you left your boat there, I'd go pick it up first thing in the mourning and take it some place else.
