View Full Version : Petition regarding child abuse

If there is usually anyone I can count on to help it is my fellow car folk.

This petition revolves around helping gain the release of my daughter and her half-brother from their abusive mother in Iowa. Iowa DHS (known as CPS here in WI) is of course looking at this as a "stress level" situation with the mother and are playing a "wait and see" game. Apparently threatening to kill the child and admitting to hitting him is just stress to them. The more eyes DHS sees on this situation and the more voices it hear the more apt they will be willing to do something since bad press is not what they want.

All of the details (including recorded confessions) are at the petition site. If you have some time, please take a moment to sign it.

Wow, thanks everybody, your help is surely appreciated.

Here is my daughter Mercedes. Would you believe that her mother took her in to get hair extensions a week after this picture was taken because we trimmed her hair so it wasn't in her mouth (at Mercedes's request)?

and this is Monte whom isn't even mine, but still love the little guy.

Iowa can be freaking stupid. I work with a couple mentaly challenged kids out of Iowa and it can be frustrating sometimes when the state is being morons with their goofy laws.

Yes, for those who read through that and say "WTF did you marry her for", well, the answer is complicated but it boils down to a bad mix of Superman Syndrome (thinking you can help everyone) and nasty codependence, which I never even knew existed until therapy after her.

That "Scott always wins" is classic though. The picking off of a scab and saying I did that to her is even more classic.

Up to 80 now, thanks to all.

Thank you for the sticky and all those that signed.

While not diagnosed directly my shrink (everybody needs therapy after someone like her) also believes Valerie to be bi-polar, so I understand all to well Holeshot. With medication people seem to do well but without it or an undiagnosed bad case they are ticking time bombs sometimes.

Speaking of being bipolar, I am and meds can work wonders if you can find the right drug and the correct amount. Also, if she is bipolar, get her on meds and take her to therapy.

Anywho, I signed.

I wasn't making fun and I hope no one took it as such. But our daughter in law is a crack head and refuses to take her meds. Shes been in trouble for a long time.

Meds work fine and all until euphoria sets in and you think you dont need the meds anymore. I FIRMLY believe, through experience, that parents shouldnt be alone when meds are a necessity for childwelfare. If the mom is bipolar, she shouldnt have the kids. Who is there to make sure she takes her meds consistently?

As one who is diagnosed with Bi-polar i can completley understand this and i have singed it.

Tho i am not taking meds, but i think iw as diagnosed incorrectly, cause once i got into cars alot more than in my youth, i have clamed down significantly. I think i just needed a hobby.

The problem we have is that the mother refuses to accept anything is wrong with her. She sees herself as the victim here and that she is a perfect mother. I think it would take a court order to get her on something.

A gentlemen a used to work with was bi-polar and you would never have known it since he was on his meds, at least I never knew. Great guy to talk to, always had a story for you.

I lost touch with him after switching jobs. I understand he started to gamble, went off his meds and started the downward spiral. I then read in the news that he killed his two young children and attempted to kill his estranged wife. I damn near fell to the floor in shock.

It is a mean condition and I feel badly for all those afflicted with it. I am just glad there is proper medications out there for you.

Sorry for not getting an update up sooner, I wanted more info from DHS and the police department before doing so.

On Saturday I got an email from Valerie titled "Hooray" that said:

Excellent try! Better luck next time!

Upon calling she stated that DHS had cleared her of any wrong doing.

Now I just need to hear from the police department and what they want to do.

Just a little update.

It would appear that some sort of abuse was founded in the case by DHS, but the children remain. DHS is still providing services to her.

The case has been forwarded to the County Attorney now for possible charges.

We also received a nice letter from Senator Russ Feingold about this, in which he expressed the "hope that justice is served in the matter".
