..using Inventor 10 (parametric design software).:)

Nice clean welds. A row of dimes everytime.

Seriously, it's a lot of fun. :banana

Got to put some hardware in there next.

Nice!

I wish my welds looked like that with Solidwerks or AutoDesk...or maybe my real welds...:thumbsup

I will have to look into Inventor 10 to learn some new tools of the trade.

Solid modelers. :gay :)

You have an impossible weld situation between the two vertical posts. You should make it one piece.

Hijacked!

Anyone have CAD capable of sproket design and G-code generation? I'm trying to draw up a three-tooth gear similar to a roots blower for a small RC plane engine at school.

The two blocks on the plate? or the weldment/bracket on the bottom?

If you're talking about the bracket:
I've got (36) in stock that say otherwise. :thumbsup That particular piece is tried and true...an evolution. It's safe to say there's more than 400 pieces in the field working perfectly.

If the blocks:
Good catch. There shouldn't be a weld on the inside edges more than likely. I'll have to look at the detail drawing.

I do. But I can quite picture what you mean. Do you have any details?

Between these 2 posts. Guess what that gap is.

DurtyKurty

Guess what that gap is.

Guess what it is fuctionality wise? or guess what it is dimensionally?

Dimensionally, IDK. It could be 1/2" it could be 2" it could be 2'. All I have to go on is the proportion to the weld fillet size. Based on that it appears as though it would be difficult to get any cup in there.

Whatever it is, I am sure it works just fine.

Solidworks > Inventor

Maybe not heh, I could give 2 shits about 3d modeling, but I have to support fvcking solidworks on a daily basis

I thought it was impossible?

I put the whole "I am sure it works just fine" thing in there so you wouldn't get all upset and start yelling at me and try to E-beatmeup for picking on your design. :)

Besides, I know you agree that it's not the best way to do that.

I only say that because I know how gay autocad is/was to support... and I can't imagine anything autodesk turns out would be any better.

Supporting solidworks is pretty $hitty at times tho too... especially if you have hacks that don't understand much about computers using it.

I'm no keyboard warrior. (It's e-thuggin btw)

My model not my design(part in question). You're ASSuming too much. ;)

So your just a modeler then. ;)

Hey, I feel sorry for anyone who does support for any type of software. I've read some of the Comic/horror stories. Wouldn't wanna be ya.

Yeah, ok. You got me... I was trying to rope you in on one. I see now that I must wake up a little earlier to get you.

Besides, I'm making an Ass out of you AND me.

So am I assuming too much if I said I know you work with weldments? :)

LOL, you lost me on this one. I am ASSuming it has something to do with 20 questions. :) At least your a good sport. Seems like there is an above average amount of short fuses on this board. :durr

So anyhow, you gonna make us all guess what it is you do and what the assembly is for?

Roots blowers are gears...

I'm looking to get a cad file of a couple different gear variations
such as pressure angles (5,10,15,20 degrees), but they will all have three teeth.

That's ok if you don't want to tell me what it is. We all know it's for Chryslers new luxury cement truck. :D
