my uncle told me today that he is getting a 1985 dodge daytona z turbo.....anyone know anything about these cars....said it has brand new turbo....might be interested in buying it from him looking for some opinions

i've got a 90 daytona shelby...

they're nice, they have their gremlins, but what car from the 80's doesn't... lol

russ roams around here from time to time and he's the local knowledgable one on these cars...
i know enough to put my car together, and i'm getting better, but russ is the "go-to-guy" on most issues...

1985 dodge daytona z turbo

Good solid rods if it is the 85 block, some later year 2.2's got
lighter rods. The head is specific to 85 and older turbo Dodges
its called the "G" head, outflows the swirl heads of 86 up cars.
The trans is a pile of poop but easily swapped for another
manual and basicaly bolts right in. An auto swap is a smarter
choice for ET's and street racing. With an 8$ upgrade it will
run in the 14's, a decent intercooler and the previously mentioned
mod is high 13's. The 85 has a decent Garret turbo good for up
to 240hp when you add a good cooler. The Daytonas are the
heaviest of the breed but that model year not to bad at under
#3000 with you in it. Decent car, easily tuned to 14.0 for $100.

wow maybe i should look at it then...he said the paint is in great shape and like i said it has a brand new turbo...not sure if it's bigger or what i will have to wait and see when he gets it
