Before I take it to Comet, I thought I would ask if anyone here welds aluminum. I have a crack in one of the endtank welds. Big enough to cause hesitation at WOT, and crappy idle. I know there was a thread somewhere here with someone looking to fix an aluminum crack.

Thanks

Rick

A guy I work with welds Aluminum. He does good work & he will do it on the clock so it wouldn't cost you any thing. might take a day or two...

I can do it if you can afford to loose it for a few days. I have a tig welder at work and am very good with aluminum

Well, I JB Welded the small crack I had. Car still did not want to run. Started to get angry, took off entire IC to start tearing the car down to find the "real" problem I was having (WOT hesitation leading to car not wanting to run at all). ANyways, I just glanced at the IC, and find this. I guess this could be my big issue that I was having huh?:stare :durr :punch:

WOW thats horrible! What intercooler are you running? I would send it back and demand a replacement!

:wooo

How does that happen!!!

You need duct tape.

So would I, but the crack is most likely from a small accident I had that placed another crack in the IC (which I had welded). I do not expect the shop to stand behind something that even I believe is my fault for happening.

Rick

EDIT: Oh yeah, how does that happen? Try hitting a stop and go light at about 10mph or less after sliding on black ice. That would do it I suppose.

My Greddy had a crack and small hole from sucking up a raccoon into the FMIC. I tigged the crack and JB'd the hole. The blood and fur washes out with water.

The problem you are describing sounds exactly like a boost leak. Even a slight leak will make a big difference....

Gotcha Rick....sh1t happens. I thought it was a defect in the product. I know the APS FMIC are prone to cracking at the welds
