I wouldn't go that far. I wouldn't exactly call it a poor man's anything. The supercharged version floats around $70,000. But for that you can rival the Enzo ferrari in track performance. Even though it is a barebones machine, you can bet your ass it would get as many looks as a Ferrari. It is a supercar in it's own right. :headbang btw see avatar for face destroying power of it.

I saw the Top Gear episode that the car was on and it's definitely more than a stripped down supercharged civic. That picture of the guys face being smushed towards the back of his head is quite accurate. That car pulls like a raped ape.

It's gotta be fast, but for that kind of money I would go for a noble or build an ultima gtr.

kinda cool but for that kind of money id build factory fives kit supercar instead....the MG 200.
