Well as some of you may know I recently sold my beloved Civic. BTW: that stopmed out 90% of the people I raced (on the track of course :goof ) But anyways today I saw a 72 Chevelle 396 ci, gave the guy a offer that he couldn't refuse and boom, sold to me. So now you guys will catch me driving a 1972 Chevelle Hardtop, minty green and some nasty black steelies for now.

So to get to the point...This is my first American Muscle Car and I don't know JACK :chair: . So any help to making this beast go fast let me know. Low budget would be extreamly helpful since I don't have too much money right now.
Here are some basic specs.

396 ci bored 60 over
Built 400 tranny
2 steps up on the cam

I'll get some more specs as soon as I find out what thing are :confused

Nitrous is in the near future

WOW! sounds like a hell of a jump from a Honda to a Chevelle, Well talk to ROGERDARKNESS (you were calling him out not to long ago) He has alot of extra Big Block Chevy parts and he knows his car virtually inside and out so i'd say talk to him i'm sure he would be more then willing to help you out.
- Now how to make it fast for cheap Nitrous plate kit 100-150 shot and Mickey Thompson ET streets and a decent rearend. i don't know much about how to make them go anywhere though so i might be wrong.

What the lambo doors?

DocDave
04-13-2006, 03:23 PM
Car looks pretty solid. I would leave it alone, except for a few things.
First, Loose the doors.
Second, get everything mechanically in order.
Third, have fun!

I have a feeling this car previously has Large Blinging rims on it.

Is my guess correct ?

Lambo's and it seems to sit high like a brotha put in jacked up springs to clear the Large Rims.

YECH!

Okay, now that I got that out of the way, congrats on a clean muscle car purchase. :thumbsup

Here's what I would do with your car, were it mine:

First, get rid of those god-awful doors. The jag that did that should get a thousand paper cuts on the webbing between his fingers. :punch:

Second, get some normal springs on it. Cars that sit in the clouds look stupid.

Third, find out things like cam specs, converter stall, actual final drive ratio, carb size. Are the pistons forged? What type of distributor; HEI, breaker point, aftermarket? (and please don't use the ricer term "dizzy" when referring to this part) Does it have rectangular port or oval port heads? Are the valve springs stock or were they upgraded with the cam install? What type of cam does it have; flat tappet or roller? Are the tappets hydraulic or mechanical?

Knowing this stuff is important for setting up future mods and tuning.

Lastly, depending on how hard you want to spray this thing and what style of N2O you wish to use, you may want to think about upgrading to a single plane intake manifold. They have better mixture distribution when using a plate style kit.

"thatgraycivic", nice score on the Chevelle! Don't let people talk you into or out of something pertaining to YOUR car. Do what YOU want, and have fun with it. As big of a tool as Hitman is, he's got a good point about the motor. Get as much info on it as possible before you do anything, and go from there.

In my opinion(s), his taste sucks, and you seem to want to meddle in someones else's argument. He's a big boy and I'm sure he can take care of himself without any "help" from the hemorrhoid gallery. I suggest you refrain from any further commentary on items that don't concern you, or you will find out just how big of a "tool" I can be... :flipoff2:

 How typical. You can't handle the abuse, so you use the tools of a weak mind; personal attacks on ones family. Plus, it's not even a very creative attack, but rather the kind of stuff I would expect of an eighth grade punk. And I'm the one that's considered an ass...

What a pathetic adversary you have proved to be.

Back to the original topic, it does seem to be a nice car that's in fairly decent shape, but how big of a pain is it going to be to get the doors back to stock? Isnt there a ton of mods that need to be done to get the lambo doors on a car? I see this costing quite a bit of $$. Anyone have an idea what he might be in for if he decides to go back to stock hinged doors?

As far as I'm concerned, your reading comprehension is still suspect, as is your thinking.
What do you call this:

Nobody really like the doors on his car,
I'd call it the same thing I said, without the flamboyance. Other than the adjectives used, what's the difference? :confused
