regular should be at $3.50 a gallon in 6 weeks or less. I read that its just going to keep going up this summer. Its affecting EVERYTHING too nationwide but more importantly here in WI for our tourism this summer which is slated to lose millions upon millions this summer because people can't/won't pay the outrageous prices.

The thing that gets me is people who call me and complain about us having to raise our prices. I work for a supply delivery company. You want to keep the prices low... come get the sh1t yourself... :D

Well, they passed up Walmart as #1 on the Fortunte 500 list, so why not try and double last year's profits?

Fuel prices went up about 20% from one year ago. Most people get about a 5-6% rasie anually if they're lucky. Something doesn't jive. Pretty soon I'll be paying my company to work for them...

Stephs new car got 45mpg on the last tank. My truck gets about 18-20mpg.

Fuel sucks to pay for, but it doesn't bother me much at all. There are worse things to pay for.

Best way to get prices lower is for people to start threatening their congressmen that either do something about this price gouging, or find yourself a new job come election time.

Only business I know of that high raw material costs = record profits. Any other buisness might see record sales due to price increases, but not record profits. Oil companies are profiting around 9 million dollars a day. That's profit, as in after everything is said and done, refined, salaries and taxes paid, you name it, they still are profiting that much.

hey dave, at least your car SHOULD be getting decent mileage, at least 20s. cruising wise usually DET setups minus major motor mods do very well

oh from what i knew about teh Nissans with those setups, even with injectors, as long as the majority of the motor setup and the tuning weren't haywire, the car retained relative driveability. what damn turbo u running

Im on this MPG kick now, its like the HIGHEST mpg possible out of the honda is like getting a really low ET out of the camaro to me :rolf

with the weather warmed up it picked up a couple points, i can now travel 150 miles so far using a 1/4 tank out of 13 gallons, instead of barely 120 when cold out. Might be well on my way to a 450 mile tank this go around.

To be honest, there's no reason for the gas prices to be going up this time. The price of a barrel has gone down since Friday.

tom, you get and intake and such? maybe a decent exhaust.... depends on how much u wanna spend for 1-2 mpg AT BEST

You're gettin soft on us tom? Gas mileage is for sissies.

I honeslty don't even look at prices anymore unless there's two gas stations in view that sell 93 and one of them isn't $hitgo.

Instead of JUST bitching about it, we should start a letter writing campaign to our crocked officials. It may not help but at least we arent just keyboard assaulting the issue. It was a good thing I got rid of our truck when I did because I was barely affording gas for it as it was and now it would be insane to even try.

Someone post up links, email addys, or phone numbers and we should just being our own petition. At some point people have to stop taking it in the a$$ and actually DO something. Otherwise quit the bitchin.

Oil companies are telling investors to be cautious about investing in oil right now, despite the fact that the price keeps going up. The reason is they contend, that the price for oil is like the internet/tech stock pricing bubble in the 90's, just way way way overvalued....and like the internet/tech stocks, you get a bunch of investors throwing crazy money at oil driving the cost per barrel up even more. The bubble will eventually burst though, and we'll probably hit another long period of low gas prices (~1.70 or so), but when, I do not know. This period is similar to the 70's imo.

I wouldn't be suprised to see oil hit 80 bucks a barrel.

But I believe that the main reason for the spike right now is that there is, of all things, an ethanol shortage, on top of the change at the refineries from a winter blend to summer blend.

Anyone who thinks they're saving money by buying a hybrid is a clueless idiot.
Research before you flame that fact :)

I'll second that. Just think about the people who lease them so they can save $50 bucks a month in gas, yet spend an additional $250 a month on lease payments.

Also, I don't think this 'bubble' is going to burst untill all of these oil futures investors cause a second stock market crash. Remember how people were trading so fast in the 20s that industry really couldn't keep up with the changes in the market? Well, with internet trading right now, a company can go for broke in 15 minutes after their stock has a small price blip on the Wall Street.

Despite the increase in crude prices, the cost to refine oil has not increased proprotionally with it. Therefore, if the crude price goes up %10, the pump price should not go up 10% as well. Because the crude is just one of many overheads, it should not cause such a drastic change in prices. In fact, when the price of crude goes up 10%, the pump price seems to increase 20% and net profits increase 100%. This is profiteering, which is illegal.

I want to see some of the opec guys get sniped by some disgruntled dude.

You know what pisses me off more than gas? Well, actually more things that you'd care to find out about, but really... the cost of fvcking batteries really makes me stale. I went to go buy a 9 volt the other day and ended up buying a crappy rayovac because I didn't want to pay 5.19 for the duracell super ultra mega series. WTF? Talk about a product that hasn't changed in decades. Now all they do is slap a gay a$$ tester on the side and call it "new".

BLAH.

I just can't wait for the next round of "dont buy gas today" emails. Haha. At least the cost of High Life hasn't gone up :alcoholic
