The car is 96 (impala) 8.5" 10 bolt, 30 spline. My buddy is rebuilding it, he wants it strong. What should he put in for a posi set up ? What is his best bet for a good strong set of gears? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

get an eaton posi, they stay together well. for gears go to link (http://www.nolimitsmotorsports.net/special_s___gp_s)
they have the gear sets that use the reluctor ring for the abs. if you dont mind losing the abs you can use richmonds.

What about for axles ? Are the stockers good enough of should he get hardened ?

if the car has rear disks, i wouldnt worry much about axles, unless the bearing surface is pitted. there are a bunch of guys goin into the 10's on stock axles, they are a pretty strong unit as far as stock is concerned.
