Chris, did you see the commercial for A&E's new show Kind of Cars? NOW THATS where you need to work! The owner's name is Josh 'Chopper' Towbin cuz he's always choppin down prices! The dealership is like a friggin circus! Looks funny. I saw the preview over the weekend for it.

I watched that show this Tuesday. It gave me flashbacks to when I was in the business. I actually started to feel stressed when they were all fighting for ups and working the deals. I don't miss those days!

I watched this lastnight and was dying to post about it. From what I saw, it was all fun and games. Not how the business really is. I want to watch more of the shows to get a real feel for it.

Did you notice that all their cars have rims? I bet that store is making a TON of money because of the show.

Yeah, those are pretty old shows. That place is car business legend, haha. Do like 100 cars on a day. HUGE dealership too. Lots of people in the business know about that place and always talk about going there, but you hear some stories from the "other side". There is a place I keep watching to move to, that's in Beverly Hills and one outside San Diego. ALL high end vehicles. AND high end restored classic cars. talking old 24 hr of lemans race cars, classic ferrari's and crap.

Yup, I heard about that place from one of our guys that worked in Mayville... I think it'd be fun, but a ton of stress... Or so I'd guess... With a dealership that sells 100 cars a day you gotta be ORGANIZED... If we tried to do that here... It'd be a mess :rolf

OH I agree they are making a KILLING now because of that show. Chopper is a legend I guess down there in Vegas. I was talking this morning to a guy I work with since the subject came up here on BCM this morning and he said that he saw Chopper in Vegas at a restaurant with Latrell Sprewell....he sells cars to high rollers. I am trying to find the pic but he sold Missy Elliot a Grand Caravan with air ride and 24's!

What is great about this show is what is not said, afaik. Apparently Chop has a history of ripping people off, and then when they complain he threatens them. Numerous complaints against this dude. Nice to know that many people in the car business want to work for this azz.

Rick - you might have missed that part of my post. You hear stories and that may be all they are. With THAT type of story, you'd think there would be actual criminal cases against him of some sort. Hell, if we even THINK about keeping your money that you signed a contract stating we have the legal right to keep 3% of the purchase price if you back out, we get threats about being taken to court. We'd lose if it went that far, even with the signed contract.. ALL because we are the car business. So if that stuff was true, you'd think that reputation would spread faster and they wouldn't sell as many cars. In this business, flat out, you go where you can make the MOST money consistently.

We have the 5% Rule here...

Us too. Every contract. I have put it to use before as well. That is total BS when people pull stuff like that.
