Well, the transmission on my o2 Z28 took a crap last night. It kept sliding out of gear, then wouldn't go in, and now it's stuck in 5th gear. Since my car has a little over 50k on it, I'm paying out of pocket for this. So, I might as well upgrade to make the tranny stronger, so I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a good kit to get? Anyone have any experience? Thanks.

I bought a T56 from florida. It was only 65 shipped via UPS.

D&D performance makes the best parts to make your T56 stronger. I have a bunch of their hardware installed in mine when it was rebuilt. I believe it was actually cheaper to buy parts from them too so it was a win-win considering. Tom knows his s h it when it comes to the T56 so what Chris said.

Sounds good. All of the shops here in SC are saying that they would just charge me for labor to pull the trans, then they would just ship it to someone to do the work on it. I might as well just pull it, buy the parts and ship it myself. I've been thinking that I was going to have to beef up the trans for a while now after I installed the H/C. I wasn't planning on it until after a new rear end. Oh well, it's never a bad time to upgrade. I'm interested to hear what Tom says.

Yeah the little slider keys that detent the slider ring ring wore out or fell out all together getting it stuck in gear. Its gonna need a rebuild. Too bad you dont live up here cuz i rebuild these trannies all the time for people.

Just need a synchro kit from www.ddperformance.com Maybe a cast iron 3/4 shift fork. Mine i actually spent the time to properly shim all the bearings to get proper pre load so that the tranny holds together longer. Its worked for me so far, its the only thing thats been dead reliable for me thats still completley stock.
